‘Transformers 4’ Producers Announce Chinese Reality Show Winners

The winners of a Transformers 4 reality show in China have been added to the cast of director Michael Bay’s upcoming sequel.

As part of the director and Paramount Pictures’ attempt to get the country heavily involved with the follow-up, producers launched a television program in hopes of finding four young actors and actresses. The winners were announced on CCTV’s Movie Channel over the weekend.

After sifting through the thousands upon thousands of actors and actresses who wanted to be a part of Transformers 4 experience, producers finally found four individuals to fill the available roles. “Kung Fu Fighter,” “computer geek,” “sexy goddess” and “cute loli” have all been cast as of this writing.

According to China.org.cn, Byron Li, Austin Lin, Candice Zhao, and Teresa Daley are officially members of the cast. Although their roles might be minor, they can at least say they’ve appeared in a Michael Bay movie.

“For us it’s an opportunity to get new talent; for new talent, it’s an opportunity to experience [making] a big Hollywood movie, I think it’s important for both sides and not about how big or how small something is,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura explained regarding the competition.

This isn’t the only slice of Transformers 4-related news to pop up in the past few days. Although a leaked call sheet suggested that the Dinobots would make an appearance in the flick, Paramount Pictures remained tight-lipped about the situation. However, di Bonaventura recently confirmed these reports with TFW2005.

“I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. The world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China’s vehicles,” the producer told the website.

In addition to the reality show winners, the sequel features Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, Han Geng, and Titus Welliver.

Transformers 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
