Darla Holloway, Four-Year-Old Leukemia Patient’s, Rendition Of ‘God Bless America’ Has Everyone On Their Feet

Darla Holloway stole the show when she got up, with the support of her family, and belted out “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch Tuesday night at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox game.

Yes, little kids are cute, especially when they try to sing. So what sets little Darla apart? This four-year-old girl has been fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia and still had the strength to belt out the song Tuesday night.

According to NESN, Darla has been practicing every night for this big moment, which also included being part of the Jimmy Fund chorus that sang the National Anthem.

Yahoo! reported that Darla had been first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was only two years old.

The fight for her life began when her family first noticed some odd changes in the girl’s behavior.

Her mother told WEEI Radio that she had been suffering from a cold that didn’t seem to want to go away.

It was when little Darla started complaining of fatigue that really got her families attention.

Darla’s mom, Sherelle, said that Darla was too tired to participate in gymnastics, which Sherelle said the little girl loved to do.

“It was scary at the beginning, but after the doctors talked to us and told us which one it was… we were working with a good lukemia, one that was treatable. It’s bearable. She’s dealing with it, we’re dealing with it.”

She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments, which is why most of her hair is gone.

Her spirit sure isn’t gone though, as all those at Fenway and who have watched the video above can see by just how well she sang Tuesday night.

Darla Holloway was an inspiration to many, and if you haven’t checked out the video of her performance, make sure you do! It will melt your hear like it did for many others.
