James Franco’s First Look On ‘The Mindy Project’

September will see a whole lot of James Franco on television. What might be his most exciting guest stint since awkwardly dancing with a body pillow on 30 Rock, is Franco’s debut on FOX comedy series The Mindy Project.

Earlier we reported that Franco will be making his appearance on the first two episodes of the new season. Instead of playing himself (30 Rock), or a weird version of himself (General Hospital), Franco will be playing Dr. Paul Leotard. The character is described as charismatic, and very popular with the rest of the characters on the show. Dr. Paul Leotard acts as Mindy’s replacement, while she is on a volunteer trip to Haiti with her pastor boyfriend.

Although there have been pictures of Franco on set around Twitter, and many details about Dr. Paul Leotard, we haven’t seen Franco’s new character in motion. Entertainment Weekly now has an exclusive video that you can check out over here.

As promised it looks like everyone adores Franco’s character, and who wouldn’t? He’s good-looking, knows how to wear a lab coat, and is apparently buying drinks for the whole office. That sounds like a major score. Even Mindy, who debuts her new short cut, seems to be swooning over Franco’s character.

Franco makes his FOX debut on Tuesday, September 17. If you want to get your Franco fix before then, you can tune into Comedy Central’s Roast of James Franco. The special, which is hosted by Seth Rogen, taped on Sunday night and will air during Labor Day weekend. Guests who took Franco up to task include: Sarah Silverman, Jonah Hill, Aziz Ansari, Nick Kroll, Bill Hader, and Andy Samberg.

If that’s not enough for you, then you might want to check out James Franco’s new art reality show on the Ovation network, which is said to be debuting in November.
