Wedding Photographer Flies Photo Drone Right Into Groom’s Head [Viral Video]

In what appeared to be an unprovoked attack, a wedding photographer flew an experimental photo drone right into the groom’s head at a recent wedding.

Of course, it was an accident. We just like to have a little fun around here.

Anyway, wedding photographer Davey Orgill was using a DJI Phantom quadcopter, which can fly several hundred feet into the air and uses a GoPro camera. He said that he practiced flying it, though he admitted “probably not enough.”

Along with the video of the groom being smacked in the head with the photo drone, Orgill wrote:

“This was two days before the wedding at their bridal shoot. This happened towards the beginning. I had done one successful fly by and I brought it around for another pass to make sure it was smooth,” he said. But when he brought the drone around again…

“I underestimated the lift time and it hit the groom on the side of the face. He had a cut on his cheek and the side of his head.”

Though he said he felt “horrible,” the couple apparently went along with it and even asked him to put the video online.

“He’s fine,” Orgill told KSL of his victim. “He’s like this tough cowboy. They are the coolest couple in the world.”

The video has over 1,000,000 views on YouTube as of this writing, and oddly enough, Orgill thinks that’s good for business.

“I think any exposure is good,” he said. “Although the aerial work isn’t a big part of our business.”

You can watch the wedding photographer’s drone strike video above. All the clip needs is someone to add “Ride of the Valkyries” to it.
