Google Maps Adds Waze Incident Reports For iOS, Android

Google Maps users taking advantage of iOS and Android Maps now have free access to Waze reports.

Waze is a user submitted platform that includes incident reports such as accidents, road closures, construction, and various other commuter based issues.

Waze is only available in the following countries at this time: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, the UK, and the US.

While Waze is now integrated with Google Maps, the company’s own platforms for iOS and Android will soon receive Google Search functions.

If you want to help build out Waze coverage or fix any mistakes, you will also have access to the program via Google satellite and Street View imagery.

When Google acquired Waze this summer, we lamented on the future of the deal that was valued at approximately $1.1 billion. As expected, it appears that Google is using Waze as a means to build out its mapping software from a social point of view.

The FTC is currently investigating the Waze purchase over claims that it may be anti-competitive and ultimately illegal.

Here’s a look at Google Maps working alongside Waze:

Do you like this new Google Maps feature, or is the platform becoming over-crowded with new features?
