Olivia Newton-John Releases Statement After Contractor’s Death

Olivia Newton-John is “shocked” to learn that her contractor was found dead at their home in Florida on Monday morning.

The Grease singer and her husband John Easterling released a statement today adding a few details to the tragic incident at their home.

A rep for the couple said that Olivia Newton John and her husband were not at home at the time of the incident. The couple also said that he was not a member of their family.

The statement reads: “Olivia and her husband John are in shock over the tragic event that occurred at their Florida home yesterday. At this time we are awaiting additional information from investigators, but can confirm that the couple was not in Florida at the time and, the deceased was not a family member.”

Police identified the person found at Newton-John’s home as a 42-year-old white male. Police have not released the man’s name but they did say that he died after sustaining a gun shot wound. Initial reports indicate that the man committed suicide but police have not made that official yet.

Jupiter Police spokesman Scott Pascarella told ABC that an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

This is the second time this year that Olivia Newton-John has made the news after a tragic event. The singer’s sister, Rona Newton-John, passed away in May from a brain tumor.

The four-time Grammy winner said at the time: “I will miss her forever — my beautiful, smart, talented, funny, brave sister Rona.”
