Simon Cowell is named in divorce papers for his onetime friend Andrew Silverman, who claims that the X Factor judge broke up his marriage by getting his wife pregnant while the marriage was still going.
This week it was revealed that Andrew’s soon-to-be ex Lauren Silverman was pregnant by Cowell, though reports initially said the Silvermans were already in the process of splitting up when the affair started.
But documents from Manhattan Supreme Court show that when Andrew Silverman filed divorce papers, he cited adultery and named Cowell as a co-respondent.
Since Cowell was named in the divorce papers the X Factor judge hasn’t spoken publicly about his relationship with Andrew Silverman’s wife , though in the past he’s made it clear he’s not cut out to be a father.
“God, no. I couldn’t have children,” he once said. “With kids, you’ve got a routine you can’t escape from.”
If reports are true, he has a few months to get ready for it. Lauren Silverman is reportedly about 10 weeks along.
But sources say Simon and Lauren are very happy together, even if the circumstances of their relationship have been less than ideal.
“She is ecstatic to be with Simon,” a source told People magazine, adding that the relationship between the Silvermans was already on the outs when Simon and Lauren started hooking up.
“She was definitely unhappy in her marriage and it’s been a while that the marriage was not great. Andrew is a very nice guy but all marriages don’t last.”
With Cowell named in divorce papers, it seems clear his once strong friendship with Andrew Silverman is over. Cowell once took vacations with Andrew in his wife to the Caribbean, but even then Simon and Lauren were photographed spending time together.
