‘The Hobbit’ Extended Edition Deleted Scene, Bilbo Meets Elrond
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has released a never before deleted scene which is part of the extended edition DVD. In the clip, Bilbo (Martin Freeman) meets Elrond (Hugo Weaving) at Rivendell.
Some additional details regarding the Blu-ray/DVD extended edition were also released by Warner Bros. Mainly that the extended edition will be 13 minutes longer and it will contain about nine hours of additional behind the scenes footage.
This scene, which was deleted in the theatrical release, is part of the 13 minutes audiences will see when they purchase the DVD.
In true Peter Jackson fashion, we will get to see much more of this epic production. Nine hours of extra features mirrors what the director did for The Lord Of The Rings extended edition and is in tune with his many video blogs during production.
The deleted clip shows a doubtful Hobbit, who is unsure whether to continue in his unexpected journey alongside the dwarves in their quest to recover the gold hidden in Erebor.
Elrond is less than forthcoming when Bilbo asks for counsel on how to proceed.
The extended edition comes with audio commentary from director and screenwriter Peter Jackson, as well as a documentary showing the chronological filming of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which also stars Ian McKellen and Richard Armitage was released in December of 2012. The second installment, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug is set to hit theaters in the US on December 13.
The two remaining films are currently on post-production after completing filming in New Zealand last week. The third and final installment of the trilogy, The Hobbit: There And Back Again will be released in December 2014.
