Zach McGowan Joins Luke Evans In Universal’s ‘Dracula’

Zach McGowan has joined Luke Evans and Dominic Cooper in Universal’s Dracula.

Deadline reports that the star has joined Evans and Cooper and is set to play the character called Shkelgim, a gypsy chief.

The film will be helmed by Gary Shore and tells the origins of the character who would become the daddy of all vampires, prince Vlad.

Michael De Luca and Alissa Phillips are producers on the production, which Matt Sazama and Burt Sharpless wrote based on Bram Stoker’s iconic novel.

Universal has set an August 8, 2014 release.

McGowan recently did a multi-season stint on Showtime’s Shameless and plays Captain Charles Vane in the Starz original pirate series Black Sails which debuts next year.

Luke Evans who has been finishing with his role of Bard the Bowman for The Hobbit in New Zealand, will head to Northern Ireland next for the shooting of Dracula.

He has been giving off some hints on Twitter as to his activities concerning his schedule.

Luke Evans is one of the most popular leading men and this will be the first production in which he is the main character.

He has starred in Fast and Furious 6, Immortals, The Three Musketeers, and Tamara Drewe.

The movie will be shot, almost in its entirety, in Northern Ireland which suits very well to depict the mysterious Transylvania.

With the addition of McGowan, the film now has four of the main characters cast including the titular Dracula played by Evans, Sarah Gadon has also been cast and it is rumored she will play Dracula’s wife.
