Lindsay Lohan apparently wants out of rehab after her adderall was taken away. Lohan is currently undergoing treatment at the Betty Ford Center, though that may change if the troubled star gets her way.
Lohan is reportedly telling her friends she wants to be moved to another rehab facility that will let her have the psychostimulant prescription drug, used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder.
A source close to Lindsay Lohan told RadarOnline that the star is “absolutely freaking out” about not having her adderall. One reason? The 26-year-old is worried she will gain weight. The source added:
“Lindsay has been able to eat whatever she has wanted and not gain weight for years and she attributes this to Adderall … everyone knows that the controversial drug ramps up your metabolism, and can suppress the appetite.”
But it’s not just the fear of weight gain that makes Lindsay Lohan want out of rehab to get her adderall. The star claims the pills make her calm, because she has “severe ADD.” She added in an interview last month :
“I can’t stand still. So I take Adderall for that, it calms me. I know people who take it to stay up, or girls who take it to supposedly stay slim because it kills your appetite. But I eat all the time. I just like to stay calm.”
But Betty Ford doctors reportedly evaluated Lohan and decided that there are plenty of less addictive medications the actress could use to control her ADHD. The rehab center also apparently doesn’t prescribe the drug to people over the age of 15, because it is known to be misused as a weight loss substance.
Lohan entered rehab last week to start a three-month court-ordered stay . The locked-down rehab was ordered by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Dabney. It’s not the first time the troubled star has been ordered to do so either. Lohan explained, “I’ve been court-ordered to do it six times. I could write a book on rehab.”
