An associate of Yankees slugger Robinson Cano has been listed as a client of Biogenesis, the south Florida company accused of supplying professional athletes with performance-enhancing drugs.

Sonia Cruz, who is a spokeswoman for Cano’s foundation, was found on a list of Biogenesis clients but denies that either she or Cano received anything. Major League Baseball is still said to be investigating Cano’s connection to the clinic.

“I met with a nurse who works for the clinic, but I met her outside the clinic just to talk to her about a diet program they have for women,” Cruz told ESPN . “I never went through with it once she explained what it was. I thought it was just a diet/nutritional thing, but it was diet, nutrition, pills and stuff.”

Evidence seems to be building that Robinson Cano could be connected in some way to the PED scandal. Along with his spokeswoman, Cano’s friends Melky Cabrera and Alex Rodriguez have been named on the list of the clinic’s clients.

Major League Baseball has dedicated several investigators to the Florida clinic, attempting to determine whether any players used performance-enhancing drugs provided by Bosch. The investigation could lead to suspensions.

Baseball officials have already suspended minor leaguer Cesar Carrillo for 100 games for his connection to Biogenesis, CBS Sports reported.

Many more professional athletes have been implicated in the scandal. From the Miami New Times , which broke the story:

“Then check out the main column, where their real names flash like an all-star roster of professional athletes with Miami ties: San Francisco Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera, Oakland A’s hurler Bartolo Colón, pro tennis player Wayne Odesnik, budding Cuban superstar boxer Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz. There’s even the New York Yankees’ $275 million man himself, Alex Rodriguez, who has sworn he stopped juicing a decade ago.”

Robinson Cano continues to deny taking performance-enhancing drugs and said he has never been connected to Biogenesis.
