Vandals Destroy Girl Scout Cookies

Monroe, WA – Vandals destroyed several hundred boxes of Girl Scout cookies.

Authorities said the teenagers responsible for the break-in destroyed anything within reach inside Jeff and Dee Brown’s garage. The couple discovered the teenagers inside their home early Sunday morning.

According to KIRO-7, the vandals destroyed the Girl Scout cookies before pouring motor oil, laundry detergent, and paint on the boxes. The teenagers ran away before police arrived on the scene.

Dee Brown said:

“I was shocked. I was heartbroken. It’s something I just don’t understand.”

Jeff Brown said his kids only get one chance every year to sell the Girl Scout cookies. He said taking this opportunity away from his children was “pretty rough.”

KOMO 4 explains that 52 cases were housed inside the Brown’s garage at the time the suspects struck. The vandals destroyed around $2,500 worth of Girl Scout cookies.

Authorities explained the suspects managed to escape with a small sledgehammer and an electric screwdriver. They also managed to splash paint on some of the other items inside the garage.

Dee Brown said that her daughters still intend to see the cookies despite the problem. She said “they’re still selling cookies, they’re still happy to be selling cookies.”

According to MYNorthwest, the folks at Girl Scouts of America have agreed to replace the damaged product.

Sadly, this isn’t the only crime to befall a group of Girl Scouts over the weekend. The Los Angeles Times reports that a kid on a skateboard stole money from a group of girls who had been selling cookies in front of a local store.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the girls were packing up their supplies when the culprit blew past their table on a skateboard. The thief managed to steal a bag of money in the process.

Although one of the girls attempted to catch up with the bandit, he ultimately got away. The boy was reportedly wearing a “blue beanie and blue-and-gray striped shirt” at the time the incident took place. The amount of money he stole has not been disclosed as of this writing.

Girl Scouts of America officials have been staying busy thanks to Honey Boo Boo. The reality star was recently criticized when she attempted to sell cookies on her official Facebook page.

Police are still searching for the vandals who destroyed several boxes of Girl Scout cookies in Washington. They are asking anyone with information about the suspects to contact the Monroe police department.
