Josh Duhamel and wife Fergie are expecting their first baby, and have finally admitted that the Black Eyed Peas’ singer is pregnant — and now that the cat is out of the bag, the Desperate Housewives star is freely discussing his feelings about impending fatherhood.
Josh Duhamel is 40, but the star is experiencing baby joys for the first time. And while he held off on being a dad, Duhamel says he’s always wanted to be a parent — and that he feels comfortable and chilled out around other people’s kids.
Duhamel, currently working on Safe Haven , dishes on the prospect of the pitter patter of little feet:
“I think that I’ve always had an affinity for kids and there’s something about me and kids that just click … I don’t know if it’s because I am a kid, but it does prepare you whenever you’re around them. I’ve got nieces and nephews and all my friends have kids.”
However, Josh admits that he knows kids look easy … from a distance. When it comes to 24/7 diaper duty, Duhamel knows that having your own kids is a whole different ballgame:
“All that stuff is a learning experience for when it actually happens, but I don’t think you’re ever truly prepared until it’s your own.”
And even early on, the actor says there are lots of exciting milestones — at a press event in London, he explains:
“It’s very exciting! … Seeing that ultrasound is like unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Unless you’ve had one yourself. You’re like, ‘Wow it’s mine.’”
Josh Duhamel and Fergie expect their baby to arrive this summer.
