Downton Abbey Cast Covers One Direction’s ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ [Video]

The Downton Abbey cast may not have anything on William Shatner when it comes to using the spoken word in a performance piece. A new video showing the cast performing One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”

No, none of the the cast actually breaks into song. In fact this isn’t like their Breaking Bad video they did with Stephen Colbert. This particular video is a true mash-up.

The video looks as though it was painstakingly put together by comedian Richard Sandling who lifted bits and pieces of dialogue from the show and put it back together to form the song’s lyrics.

The Downton Abbey cast then speaks the lyrics, with the song’s musical accompaniment playing in the background. The video (which we have helpfully included in this story) has each character speak one word of the song, before moving onto the next character.

Downton Abbey has been getting quite a bit of buzz lately as they recently toured the United States publicity circuit.

The show also raised a few eyebrows after its blockbuster ending to the third season. The show has already been renewed for a fourth season.

People Magazine does point out that there is one change to the way the song is done. Instead of the line “the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed,” the Downton Abbey cast say “the way that you flip your hair gets me flabbergasted.”

Richard Sandling is also responsible for a Mad Men mashup video where the characters “sang” Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up.

Is this Downton Abbey video the best on the web right now?
