Solange Knowles, sister of Beyonce, came out to support her big sis at the official screening of the new HBO documentary Life is But a Dream — but the younger Knowles may have turned more heads than her big sis in a Lena Dunham-esque no-pants look.
Britain’s Daily Mail suggests Solange Knowles may have upstaged Bey at the Ziegfeld Theater event in NYC, describing the younger and less-famous star’s look, which centered around a men’s shirt-like minidress that was really, really mini.
The paper describes Solange Knowles’ risque look, including her accessories and bold hairdo in an ensemble that had a bit of a 70s vibe — the piece says:
“[Solange] teamed it with simple open-toe, ankle-strap heels and as she arrived to show her support at the premiere for Beyonce’s documentary Life Is But A Dream at New York’s Ziegfeld Theater… The fashion-conscious mother – of eight-year-old son Daniel Smith Jr. with ex-husband Daniel Smith – displayed simple winged eyeliner and not much else make-up… Sporting a huge afro of tight curls, the photographers looked like they were having a field day as she provided plenty of reason for the flashbulbs to go off.”
While Solange Knowles created a stir with her dress, sis Beyonce grabbed some high praise from media queen Oprah Winfrey, who said of Life Is But A Dream :
“She did an amazing job. People are going to be amazed… People are going to feel a connection to her that they didn’t feel before.”
“Because she shows us how real she is. She understands that all pain is the same. The way she hurts is the same way other people have hurt.”
