It’s not everyday that a celebrity puts themselves out there in front of thousands of fans, but on Wednesday, 5 Seconds of Summer’s guitarist Michael Clifford opened up about his own personal mental health struggles on stage in Detroit. According to USA Today , Clifford spoke about the band’s brief break on their tour Rock Out With Your Socks Out during the Detroit concert . During the hiatus, the 19-year-old shared a visit he made to a therapist to get back on track.

“I was fixing some problems with my mental health. I just saw a therapist real quick on the break we had,” Michael Clifford said to the packed venue of screaming fans.

After Clifford’s brief admission, fans across social media showed an outpouring of support with #WeLoveYouMichael trending on Twitter, Billboard reports.

Following 5SOS’ Wednesday night concert, Clifford tried to clear things up prior to his appearance on Friday on Good Morning America in New York. 5SOS performed as part of the show’s summer concert series.

“I think [the speech] was taken a little out of context,” he said. It was a thing that happened for me, but it’s all good now.”

Back in June, Clifford sustained injuries after he was burned on stage during a London concert when got too close to a pyrotechnic display on stage. In a terrifying scene, Clifford’s hair caught fire . The show was cancelled early, and the musician rushed to seek medical attention for his burns. Clifford later posted a picture of himself bandaged, but with a thumbs up, letting 5SOS fans know that he would be alright. The scare was sure to be enough to cause anyone difficulties.

Clifford isn’t the only star as of late to discuss mental health. In early June, Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki took a break from his scheduled appearances for the hit CW TV series. After a brief break from the spotlight, Padalecki returned to his loyal fan’s support and understanding, making an appearance at the ATX Television Festival for his highly anticipated Gilmore Girls reunion panel.
