Just because one can remake the 1991 movie Point Break doesn’t mean they should . Or that is the way fans of the original cult movie are feeling after watching the trailer for the 2015 remake. But is the new Point Break movie really the worst reboot ever made? Let’s have a look at the pros and cons of this latest reboot.

      1. Instead of surfers there are extreme sports fanatics. This should make for a Point Break movie that is chock full of adrenaline pumping action. And if the trailer is anything to go by, there will be plenty of action scenes to satisfy. However, fans will have to risk seeing the movie to find out.
      2. While Point Break , the 2015 remake, is gearing up to disappoint fans, it is not the first time a cult movie has been remade badly. Can anyone say The Karate Kid ? According to Box Office Scoop , the 2010 version of The Karate Kid was only an instrument for the Smith clan to show off their son, Jaden.
      3. Reboots are better than sequels. Grease 2 is a perfect example of this theory. While Point Break stars the same characters with different actors and character backgrounds, at least no one needs to live through the “ Reproduction ” song from Grease 2 again .
      4. The producers could have gone with a TV series. While there are many excellent TV series out there that are not only based on movies but actually good, there are also some pretty terrible versions as well. A TV series of Point Break could have easily gone either way. It could have just as likely been Netflix’s Daredevil as it could have been the based on a movie that was based on a TV series and then made into another TV series 2011 reboot of Charlie’s Angels .
      5. Point Break has already been rebooted – in The Fast and the Furious franchise. Many fans are pointing to the fact The Fast and the Furious movies are just Point Break done with cars. The plot is similar, the action is just as spectacular and there are beautiful people in each. Added into the blend is the fact the director of Point Break and the cinematographer of The Fast and the Furious are one and the same: Ericson Cole.

The reboot of Point Break will arrive in theaters on Christmas Day 2015.
