Bradley Cooper has cleared up rumors that he’s dating his Silver Linings Playbook co-star Jennifer Lawrence, saying instead that he’s planning on taking his mother to the Oscars as his date.
The 38-year-old actor was nominated for Best Actor for his turn in Silver Linings Playbook and has been linked to fellow nominee Lawrence. The two sat next to each other at the Golden Globe awards and were seen laughing and sharing conversation during the night, the New York Post noted.
Cooper noted the 16-year age difference between, saying during a red carpet interview: “I could literally be her father.”
But even if Jennifer Lawrence is out of the picture, Bradley Cooper does have another woman in mind after his s plit from Zoe Saldana — his mom. He told E! News that he plans on taking his mother to the Academy Awards as his date.
“Oh yeah, that was done,” Cooper said. “One night, when I started the profession, [my mom said], ‘If you ever [get nominated], I am the date.’ ”
He added that his mother is ecstatic to hear that he’s been nominated for an Oscar, saying, “She’s been freaking out.”
“She was freaking out,” he added of her reaction to the happy news.
Bradley Cooper is newly single after his latest split with Saldana. The couple broke off their relationship just before the holidays.
“Zoe had planned to spend the holidays with Bradley and his family in Europe,” a source told The New York Post ‘s Page Six. “They all were going to Paris, but things didn’t work out between them. Zoe spent New Year’s Eve with Friends in Miami.”
Though Bradley Cooper denies any involvement with Jennifer Lawrence, he has dated a few actresses in the past including Renee Zellweger, Olivia Wilde, and Jennifer Lopez.
