Cat Caught Smuggling Saw, Cell Phone, Into Prison

The cat’s out of the bag, and that means prisoners at a prison in northeast Brazil will no longer have easy access to cell phones and saws.

A Brazilian media reporter was alerted to the situation by Brazilian prison guards who spotted the white cat at the main gate of the prison.

Upon inspection, officials noticed that the feline was wrapped with tape. Underneath that tape was a battery of items including a saw, cell phone, drills, an earphone, memory card, batteries, and a phone charger.

Police officials are not sure who attempted to smuggle in the feline, although they are busily questioning all 263 detainees at the prison.

A prison spokesperson told local paper Estado de S.Paulo:

“It’s tough to find out who’s responsible for the action as the cat doesn’t speak.”

Marcelo Avelino, head of the prison guards union, tells O Globo newspaper:

“An agent saw the cat and went to look at it closely because something about it seemed wrong.”

The incident took place on New Year’s Day.

As for the cat, it has been taken to an animal disease control center where it is being looked after by veterinarians.

Here is a photograph that showcases the massive number of objects being carried by the white cat:
