WWE Rumors: WWE Totally Scrapping Huge Brock Lesnar Feud, Which Could Change ‘Royal Rumble’

The 2018 Royal Rumble is still months away, but WWE may already be on the fence about a particular angle and feud that would have landed a major match at the pay-per-view. Next month, Brock Lesnar will not be placing his Universal Championship on the line, but he will face Jinder Mahal in a Champion vs. Champion Match at Survivor Series. Now, another possible feud for Lesnar may end up being totally scrapped by WWE and not happen at all.

It appears as if WWE is going ahead with the idea of letting Lesnar hold onto the title until WrestleMania 34. The speculation is that he will face Roman Reigns at the PPV, but other names have been thrown around, like Finn Balor and a host of others.

With those rumors, it had previously been reported by Fansided that Balor would soon start a feud with Lesnar and have the program culminate with a title match at the Royal Rumble. Fans would go insane over this feud and would love to see the two popular superstars face off against one another, but they may have to wait.

According to Cageside Seats, WWE is beginning to sour on the idea of Balor vs. Lesnar, and that may have a lot to do with how “The Demon” has been booked lately.

At TLC, Finn Balor picked up a huge victory over AJ Styles after the latter filled in for Bray Wyatt, who was dealing with medical issues. On Monday Night Raw the following evening, a returning Kane issued a challenge for anyone to step up and face him, and that challenge was met by Balor.

In what can only be seen as shocking and confusing to wrestling fans, Balor was cleanly defeated by a Kane pinfall in the center of the ring. It is believed that this booking is a result of WWE not being overly confident in the idea of a Balor vs. Brock Lesnar feud heading into the Royal Rumble.

For a couple of months now, there have been rumors of Brock Lesnar going on to feud with Finn Balor for a while and have it end at the Royal Rumble. From there, Lesnar would move into a program with Roman Reigns for the road to WrestleMania 34.

Balor’s next path after a feud with Lesnar was unknown, but it seems his immediate future is much of the same right now.

According to Give Me Sport, the squash of Balor by Kane is something that Vince McMahon decided on the night of Monday Night Raw. While that was a very strange move considering the popularity and momentum of Balor after TLC, it doesn’t necessarily mean that all future plans have changed.

Finn Balor is easily one of the most beloved superstars in all of WWE, and certainly one of the most talented in the ring as well. A program with Brock Lesnar and eventual WWE Universal Championship Match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble is something that fans would love to see, but will it happen? While current rumors state that it won’t, anything is possible.
