Kim Kardashian Talks Beauty, Fitness, And 75-Lb Ketogenic Weight Loss: Why ‘Going Blonde Is Like A Diet’


Kim Kardashian has been treating her fans to photos of her 75-pound weight loss and platinum blonde tresses on Instagram. Now Kardashian is sharing the details of her ketogenic diet and fitness plan that resulted in her hourglass shape, along with dishing up beauty tips ranging from what’s involved in going blonde to how she maintains her silky-smooth skin. In the process, Kim is opening up about an issue that every successful dieter knows: It can be more challenging to maintain that weight loss than to shed pounds.

Kim Kardashian Confesses Just How Much Time She Devotes To Working Out

If you’re frustrated with reading about super-slim celebrities who claim to gorge on ice cream and skip the gym, you’ll appreciate Kardashian’s honesty. Kim told W magazine that she carves out a significant amount of time to fitness despite her busy Keeping Up with the Kardashians (KUWTK) schedule.

“I work out for an hour and a half. We weight train so hardcore.”

In addition, for those who say that they’re too tired after a day of work to head to the gym, Kardashian has shared just how she finds time for that lengthy fitness regime. She gets in that hour-and-a-half exercise routine by getting up before her kids have opened their eyes, pointed out People.

“I get up every morning between 5:30 and 6 [to] work out before my kids get up,” revealed Kim.

Kardashian has shared photos of her “beast mode” fitness on social media.

Kim Kardashian Follows Ketogenic Weight Loss Diet

With such a long workout, Kardashian has discovered the importance of staying hydrated. She has set a goal of “trying to drink lots of water.”

But although Kim attempts to keep her beverages calorie-free by drinking “just water,” she isn’t hesitant to share her occasional diet cheats.

“I recently had a matcha latte and it was so good.”

And that’s not her only cheat on her ketogenic diet. The Daily Mail reported that Kardashian just celebrated her 37th birthday by going to Disneyland and enjoying a treat that’s definitely not part of her low-carb weight loss plan.

Kim was seen happily chomping on a churro, which she has called her diet weakness. However, although Kardashian has admitted that she loves churros, she also said that she eats them only rarely because of her ketogenic diet. In all, Kim has achieved a 75-pound weight loss since she and Kanye West welcomed their son, Saint West, in December of 2015.

As for what it means to be on a ketogenic diet, low-carb diet expert Hannah Sutter told the Telegraph that one key rule is to keep the carbohydrate intake below 50 grams per day. Ketogenic diets are high in healthy fats, such as nuts and avocado, and moderate in protein, typically 15 to 25 percent of the overall food intake, according to Sutter.

Kardashian eliminates foods that are high in starch and sugar, which is why her beloved churros are typically a forbidden treat on her diet.

To have beautiful skin, wear moisturizer, advises the KUWTK star.

“I am obsessed with thick moisturizer like Guerlain.”

Kim also shared the best advice that she has received from experts, recommending that women exfoliate and wear sunscreen. And when it comes to taking advantage of the magic in makeup, Kardashian touted her own product line.

“I can’t live without my KKW Beauty Lip Liner that is coming out soon!” exclaimed Kim. “I love to overline my upper lip.”

The mom of two isn’t afraid to experiment with skin care products, however. She admitted that she enjoys trying out new products. When it comes to skin cleansers, Kardashian is a fan of foaming cleansers, declaring that she needs that foam.

“I love Dr. Lancer cleanse,” said Kim. “Then I use a hyaluronic acid and then a La Mer serum and then a thick moisturizer on top.”

Kardashian also hyped her own product line in recommending her KKW beauty contour sticks. She uses those beauty tools to “warm up” her face and then highlight certain areas.

Steps To Having A Good Hair Day

Kim shared one of her secrets to having a good hair day: dry shampoo. Although Kardashian takes time to care for her own hair, she also occasionally turns to the experts for hair transformations such as her platinum blonde shade, reported Cosmopolitan.

Meet celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who also has transformed the tresses of stars such as Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez. Appleton compared going from dark hair to blonde hair to weight loss. You can’t work out at the gym just once or diet one day and expect instant results, he pointed out. And you also have to work to maintain the weight loss.

“Like going to the gym, you can’t just go once. Going blonde is like going on a diet and losing weight, the hardest part is maintaining it.”

Consequently, just like Kim can’t maintain her 75-pound weight loss by sitting at home and eating churros, Chris says that his clients can’t go from brunette to blonde beauty without taking the time to maintain their tresses. He recommends keeping that blonde hair strong by being cautious about styling tools and conditioner.

Appleton has trained his clients like Kardashian to “turn the temperature down on your heated styling tools.” Kim also uses products to protect her hair and relies on conditioner to style her tresses in a bun or a “wet look,” added Chris.
