Dave Grohl Dismisses Rumors Of Nirvana Reunion Tour

Dave Grohl, the current Foo Fighters frontman and former drummer for Nirvana, has dismissed rumors linking his former band with a reunion tour.

Grohl recently collaborated with ex-Nirvana bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear alongside The Beatles’ Sir Paul McCartney, to create the song, “Cut Me Some Slack.” However, a spokesperson for Grohl has told the New York Post that these reports are ‘nonsense’ and reiterated that there won’t be a Nirvana tour.

Earlier the paper had stated, “Sources tell us Nirvana drummer Grohl has been privately telling friends that he’s working on a ‘Nirvana anniversary tour with a secret frontman.'” They then began to speculate that either Eddie Vedder or Jared Leto would helm the new-look group.

Novoselic, Smear, Grohl and McCartney recently played their track at the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief, before then coming together again to perform on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. The song is now also available on iTunes. These occasions marked the first time the two surviving members of Nirvana had played together in 20 years.

Grohl has just made his directorial debut with his movie Sound City, which documents the infamous Californian recording studio where Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Nirvana’s Nevermind were recorded.

It will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival between January 17 and 27, and also features collaborations between the rocker and Stevie Nicks, Josh Homme, the Queens of the Stone Age singer, and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor.

Would you like to have seen a Nirvana reunion tour? What do you think Kurt Cobain would have made of it?
