Geoffrey Allen Arrest: Illinois State Guard Busted For Selling Marijuana

Normal, IL – Illinois State University guard Geoffrey Allen was arrested Wednesday night on charges of selling marijuana.

According to USA Today, Allen, a 6-foot-6 redshirt sophomore, was charged with criminal conspiracy-marijuana and manufacture/delivery of 30 to 500 grams of marijuana.

Allen was then jailed in lieu of posting bond for $3,025. The McLean County Circuit Clerk’s office says he hasn’t entered a plea and doesn’t yet have an attorney.

Following the arrest, ISU coach Dan Muller announced Allen had been suspended from the team indefinitely.

Muller said:

“I’m very disappointed in Geoffrey. He has violated our team standards and has been suspended indefinitely.”

Allen, a Los Angeles native who transferred to Illinois State from Eastern Washington over the summer, played in six of the Redbirds’ nine games this season, averaging 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.

While athletes transferring from one Division I school to another normally have to sit out a season, Allen was granted a waiver by the NCAA in October to play for the Redbirds this season.

NBCSports notes Allen’s best game came last Saturday against Western Michigan when the 20-year-old tied his season high with six points in an 85-63 win.

During the contest, he sank a pair of 3-point baskets to go along with two rebounds and two assists.
