49ers-Seahawks Game Moved To ‘Sunday Night Football’

The San Francisco 49ers game against the Seattle Seahawks will get a prime-time audience on December 23. The 49ers-Seahawks game, which could decide the NFC West, has been moved to Sunday Night Football as part of the NFL’s “flex” schedule.

The flex schedule enables the NFL to rearrange a few games toward the end of the season to put the more exciting games in prime-time. The league has been able to use flex scheduling since week 11 but this is the first time this season that they have decided to rearrange the schedule.

The San Diego Chargers’ game against the New York Jets was originally scheduled for SNF for week 16 but the NFL has decided to drop that from the schedule in favor of the 49ers-Seahawks game. The Jets-Chargers game has been moved to noon on CBS.

Yahoo reports that the New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens will also be kicking off at a new time. The Giants-Ravens game will now start at 3:25 PM on Fox.

The 49ers-Seahawks game for Week 16 will have huge playoff implications. The 49ers are currently 9-3-1 and the Seahawks are 8-5 which means that the week 16 game could end with a new leader in the NFC West. It will also pit two young and impressive quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick, against two of the best defenses in the league.

The 49ers and the Seahawks have already played once this year. During week 7, the 49ers were able to take a 13-6 win against the Seahawks.
