Barnes & Noble Nook Gets New Pricing At $79

Barnes & Noble has cut the cost of its Nook Simple Touch e-reader to just $79, and the price cut arrives just in time for the holiday shopping season.

The $20 decrease in price still delivers the same Nook features with a 6-inch black -and-white screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 2GB storage. The $79 Nook also offers a microSD card slot that can expand the e-reader’s memory up to 32GB for book and PDF storage. Files can also be stored on the cloud at the user’s discretion.

The Nook measures in at 6.5 inches x 5.0 inches x .0.47 inches and 7.5 ounces, just slightly larger than the Amazon Kindle.

One of Barnes & Noble’s biggest sellers has been its two month battery life, a read time that doubles the Amazon Kindle’s own battery life.

While the Amazon Kindle can be purchased for $69, users are treated to screensaver ads, and the device requires a separate charger. Removing ads and purchasing a charger pushes the Amazon Kindle pricing to $99.

The $79 Barnes & Noble Nook e-reader can be purchased at B&N stores throughout the United States and through The $79 device is also available at numerous retailers including big box chains Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.

While Android and iOS tablets have quickly taken over the market, e-readers have maintained their place as a niche product for users who want long-lasting battery support with easy to hold devices that can easily download books and other readable files.
