Pepsi Max Gives Out Free Bottles Courtesy Of Apple Passbook And Consmr
Pepsi, Apple, and the free Consmr app have teamed up to offer buyers a free Pepsi Max from more 450 participating locations
Customers will find a free Pepsi sign located at 450 Kum & Go stores throughout the United States.
Choosing to download the app via Apple Passbook will then lead to a free 20 oz. Pepsi Max via a Consmr notification.
Potential buyers who sign up for the program will be alerted when they are near a Kum & Go convenience store, most of which are based in the Midwest US. The program is also being supported by in-store signage and various point-0f-sale materials.
Passbook has already become a popular software option since launching via Apple iOS 6 on September 19. Passbook offers boarding passes, tickets, and coupons all from a users Apple iPhone based device.
Consmr is a “Yelp for consumer goods” app that allows its users to leave product reviewers after scanning the products barcode.
Location based services have become one of the more popular mobile options on the market, and, with this campaign, Consmr and Apple look to grab a bigger chunk of the market which is currently dominated by Foursquare, Yelp and a handful of other providers.
Combining location-based services with nearby business deals is not a new practice, but attracting customers via a free product is definitely a unique way to reach a new user base while associating the platform with a popular, well-known brand.
