New ‘Pokemon GO’ Fire And Ice Event Leaked, Legendary Monsters And PvP Confirmed For Summer Update

Another Pokemon GO event is coming the players’ way as indicated by a leak of the event’s description. Bringing the Fire and Ice event, the upcoming update is not anything major, but it is still a good idea to participate, nonetheless.

Pokemon GO Fire And Ice Event

The leaked announcement comes from Team Eevolution, which has released accurate leaks in the past, noted Forbes. It is in line with how Niantic structures its event announcements, so it might be real. Here is the full description of the Pokemon GO Fire and Ice event, according to the leaker.

“With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.

From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!

It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.

Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!”

Like what is said above, the event is nothing major. It has the same elements as the previous events: increased spawn rates of event-appropriate Pokemon, XP bonuses and discounts.

Pokemon GO Legendaries

The event is a good way of keeping the Pokemon GO players busy, but it is only the appetizer to an entrée of Legendaries. Niantic has already confirmed that the much-awaited missing Pokemon are finally arriving this summer.

Mathieu de Fayet, an executive from Niantic, confirmed the legendary update in an interview, reports Eurogamer. He did not specify, though, if every Legendary Pokemon from Gen 1 and Gen 2 is coming. As of now, Gen 1 is missing Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew, while Gen 2 is missing Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Celebi.

De Fayet also hinted of an update that will make choosing teams more worthwhile. Right now, there does not seem to have a benefit to choosing a team, so Niantic may be looking to introduce new features to add value.

PvP battles were also mentioned, confirming that one of the most-awaited features that should have been a part of the game at launch is coming also this summer. Niantic’s decision to delay the feature, which is a major aspect of the Pokemon franchise, proved to be a bad move as players quickly got tired of catching monsters and hatching eggs.

But a large number of players are still using Pokemon GO regularly. Niantic is continuously making a profit from its partners, who have to pay $0.15 for every visit. De Fayet claimed that their partners have collectively attracted over 500 million trainers and that each activated McDonald’s store has 2,000 visitors per day. Punching in the numbers on a calculator reveals that losing 90 percent of the original players is not that of a big deal after all.

As summer is quickly approaching, more news about Pokemon GO Legendaries and PvP are bound to come soon. In the meantime, trainers can keep themselves busy in the event that is set to go live on June 13, if the leak is legit.
