’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 Spoilers: Hannah Baker’s Story Will Continue Through The Other Characters

13 Reasons Why’s first season tackled the story behind Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) suicide and the consequences it left on the other characters. The show received criticisms left and right due to its controversial scenes and themes, but it also received praises for its portrayal of sensitive topics. Its popularity is enough to warrant a Season 2, but who will it be about this time?

13 Reasons Why Season 2 Will Still Revolve Around Hannah Baker’s Story

Langford has already been confirmed to be returning for the next season, but her character will only likely appear in flashbacks. It seems there’s more to the story of her death than the first season let on, but this time, it will be the other characters’ turn to tell their side.

13 Reasons Why executive producer Brian Yorkey spilled some details about next season in the show’s FYC panel, Variety reported. According to him, Hannah Baker’s suicide tale is not over, but since she has already told her version in the cassette tapes she left behind, the surrounding characters will be given the chance to narrate how the story unfolded in their point of view and how they are doing after Season 1.

There’s always more than one side to a story. Although Yorkey confirmed that there’s no lie in Baker’s version, there are points that she was not seeing. The second season of 13 Reasons Why will offer a new perspective on her death through the eyes of the people she dedicated her tapes to.

“Hannah told her version of events, but there are at least 12 kids who have another version of those events that we actually haven’t really heard from yet. I don’t think Hannah told any untruths on her tape. She reclaimed her narrative, which had really been taken from her.”

Indeed, each one of the other characters has a different take on the events. Although Hannah’s suicide is the driving force of the show, she is not the only one who has a story.

What We Currently Know About 13 Reasons Why Season 2

The Inquisitr previously reported that tapes won’t be used this time, which is in line with what the EP revealed at FYC. Looking at things at the point of view of those involved with Hannah will not require tapes anymore as they can tell the story themselves.

Still, 13 Reasons Why will include another piece of technology that youngsters will have to Google to find out what it is. It is not known for now what that will be, but this retro tech will be central in the story of Season 2.

But the second season will not just relive the events leading up to the death of Hannah Baker. Yorkey also said that 13 Reasons Why will be about healing, per Mashable.

“For those that Hannah left behind, that story is just beginning. The story of their recovery is just beginning. Clay and Olivia Baker are two of the people who have the most healing to do and that process was just in its very, very first stages when Season 1 ended. Season 2 is also about healing and about how we go on, because people always say that you have to go on, but how do we after something like that?”

We now know the theme and some plot points, but the arc of 13 Reasons Why Season 2 is still a mystery. Even Dylan Minnette, who plays the protagonist Clay, still didn’t know what the entire story would be in FYC. As the story is being kept under wraps, it’s unlikely we’ll have true spoilers in the the near future.
