Fredrik Eklund ‘MDLNY’: What He Told Luis D. Ortiz After He Quit The Hit Show

Fredrik Eklund has been on Million Dollar Listing: New York since the very beginning, and he has seen a few real-estate agent leave the show. During the first season, he filmed alongside Ryan Serhant and Michael Lorber, but Lorber quit the show after the first season. He has now seen Luis D. Ortiz leave the show after four seasons, and he is saddened to see Luis go, especially since the show is such a hit and has been nominated for two Emmy Awards. It sounds like Fredrik had a plan in mind after learning Luis would be leaving because he tried to influence his decision with some advice.

According to a new Bravo report, Fredrik Eklund is now revealing that he gave Luis D. Ortiz some advice about his plans to leave Million Dollar Listing: New York and move to a city he had never been to. Even though Eklund has moved to New York from Sweden, he didn’t think that Ortiz was making the best decision for himself. Before Luis left, Fredrik actually tried to get him to stay in New York and possibly trying to influence him to keep filming the show.

“Yes, I gave advice to Luis when he told me he was gonna move to Paris. I think giving up your lease, giving up your license, giving up your team, giving up everything and just moving, getting rid of your belongings in New York, and just moving without ever actually been there ever,” Fredrik Eklund told The Daily Dish about Luis, adding, “Yeah, he didn’t take it. He moved.”

Of course, one can imagine that Fredrik wants the best for his friend, Luis. He has gained so much from being on Million Dollar Listing: New York. Not only is he getting paid a nice paycheck from Bravo for letting him film the show, but he’s also the author of two books and has his own line of wine. He has seen tremendous success from being a reality star, and his husband’s art has even gained some attention from appearing on the show.

But Ortiz didn’t want what Fredrik Eklund has. He wanted to start a new business that focuses on happiness and he wanted to move to Paris, France. It seemed like a sudden decision, but it sounds like Luis had thought about it for a while. Now that the newest season of Million Dollar Listing: New York has started with a new agent, Steve Gold, some fans are missing Luis. And Fredrik hasn’t given up on getting Ortiz back on the show.

“Luis, no one can replace you and I miss you very much,” Fredrik Eklund wrote on Instagram a while back after traveling to Paris to visit Luis at his new home, according to Bravo. “And I won’t stop until you come back as we belong together!”

Of course, Luis already appears in the trailer for this season, which means he will make a guest appearance. Plus, Eklund and Ryan Serhant will travel to Paris to visit their friend and former co-star in his new hometown. Even though he isn’t on the show anymore, one can imagine that Luis will always have two friends in New York City. No word on whether Luis sold his apartment and left everything behind in New York to pursue a life in France, but based on his Instagram post, it sounds like he’s enjoying life overseas. Maybe Fredrik will follow him, as he’s currently exploring his husband’s background, as he’s traveling around South Africa.

What do you think of Fredrik Eklund’s advice to Luis? Are you surprised that he wanted to Luis to stay in New York?
