Kendall Jenner Felt ‘Awful’ About Her Pepsi Ad And The Backlash It Received

Kendall Jenner may be a high-profile model, but that doesn’t mean she is immune to criticism. In fact, one could argue that it makes her even more susceptible to it.

The fashion model recently faced backlash in early April when she starred in an ad for Pepsi, which was labeled as “tone-deaf” and trivializing important social movements like Black Lives Matter.

In the ad, Kendall Jenner is seen doing a fashion shoot in a large American city when a protest erupts. She stops her job to join the protest, and stops everything by giving a can of Pepsi to one of the police officers.

The Pepsi advertisement was so controversial and received such negative backlash that it was pulled from the airwaves after just one day. According to older half-sister Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner was incredibly embarrassed by the ad.

Although Kendall Jenner has yet to address the Pepsi commercial controversy herself, Kim opened up about it during a Watch What Happens Live segment on Bravo.

“She totally understood at the end of the day, and she felt really awful for it. She just wants to move on from it.”

Kim also addressed her baby sister’s ad after she was asked for her reaction.

“I didn’t see it until it had already gotten the attention, and so you obviously have a different perspective when everyone’s just saying something. I think I was traveling, and I landed when I saw all this stuff come up,” she told Andy Cohen. “I think anytime someone does anything, they don’t have bad intentions of doing it a certain way, especially because Kendall is so sensitive. She would never mean for anyone to perceive anything in a negative way.”

Kendall Jenner appears on the family’s reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, when she’s not jetting all over the world modeling. She was recently seen reacting to her father’s new memoir, The Secrets of My Life by Caitlyn Jenner, in a teaser for next week’s episode, and it wasn’t the positive reaction Caitlyn might have hoped for.

After asking her mother, Kris Jenner, and sister Kim if they had read the book, she exclaimed, “It’s insane, mom! That’s insane!”

Reports surfaced that Kendall Jenner and her younger sister, Kylie, who is also Caitlyn’s daughter, were not happy about the way their mother was written about. The pair were also reportedly incredibly embarrassed by Caitlyn’s description of her relationship with her genitals and graphic account of her sexual reassignment surgery.

Aside from family controversy and tone-deaf soda ads, Kendall Jenner has been busy on the French Riviera with older half-sister Kourtney. The pair took Cannes by storm as they attended the world-famous Cannes Film Festival and spent quality time with their boyfriends. Kendall Jenner was seen on a yacht with her man, A$AP Rocky, Kourtney, and Kourtney’s boyfriend, Younes Bendjima.

Although Kendall Jenner’s relationship with A$AP Rocky seems relatively recent, the pair have been an item since last July where they canoodled in the Mr. C. Beverley Hills Hotel. Sources say that the couple often met up at the 12-story hotel due to the fact that it is off the beaten path and away from prying eyes. However, the pair were eventually outed by the paparazzi and their relationship was revealed.

In addition to modelling and jetting all over the world, Kendall Jenner and her younger sister, Kylie, have created a clothing line, known aptly as Kendall + Kylie. The sisters model for the brand as well as help design some of the clothing. They offer relatively expensive items on their website, such as $75 T-shirts and $300 dresses.
