‘The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus Celebrates Johnny Depp’s Bizarre ‘Cameo’ On ‘TWD’
The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus is enjoying the spoils of Johnny Depp’s bizarre cameo on TWD. Though Johnny’s cameo occurred in Season 6, it still holds some meaning for Reedus.
The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus just loves to take trophies from the TWD set. Johnny Depp is the same way and still has the hands of Edward Scissorhands.
Johnny Depp also keeps his Jack Sparrow costume with him when traveling, according to the Inquisitr. Yes, Depp keeps Jack Sparrow in a box, so that Johnny can make visits to hospitalized children on a moment’s notice. But fans also know that Johnny Depp likes mementos.
Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead, in the same way, loves to take the most bizarre props as mementos from The Walking Dead. Reedus collects them.
The Walking Dead, however, just doesn’t offer that much in the way of beautiful props. That doesn’t discourage Norman Reedus, who loves the macabre art objects spawned by The Walking Dead‘s special effects gurus.
The Walking Dead‘s Greg Nicotero, in keeping with their tradition of zombie tributes, created a cast of Johnny Depp’s head, along with a cast of his own head, for TWD Season 6 Episode 12 which was titled, “Not Tomorrow Yet.”
Johnny Depp’s head from The Walking Dead isn’t very flattering. It isn’t the handsome Jack Sparrow actor fans adore. No, it is the zombie version of Johnny Depp.
Norman Reedus knows that it is quite an honor and a tribute to appear on TWD as a zombie prop. The custom is discussed in the first video above. It is strange, however, since this honor is usually reserved as an homage to the horror genre.
Johnny Depp isn’t exclusively a horror star, so why is The Walking Dead honoring the Jack Sparrow actor? No one knows exactly why Depp was honored with this gruesome tribute, but it was apparently an admiring shout-out.
The Walking Dead prop didn’t last long around the TWD set once the filming was complete. Norman Reedus isn’t the only one who likes to play with it, according to Greg Nicotero, who told Comic Book that the head was a favorite toy for some of the Savior actors as well. Apparently, Nicotero’s own head didn’t have the same appeal.
“I think we had sculpted an emaciated version of a dummy head for something and we used Johnny Depp’s head as a basis just for a clay sculpt. I think one of the funniest moments we’ve shot in the season is when the Savior sticks his hand inside the head and puppeteers it to start talking. I laughed so hard when we shot that scene.”
The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus, of course, ended up with the fabulous fake Johnny Depp head, according to Movie Pilot. It is a brilliant addition to Reedus’ macabre collection of weird things.
The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus has taken Johnny Depp’s infamous zombified head home from work and has displayed it on Instagram repeatedly. Does this mean Norman is a fan of Depp’s or is Johnny’s fake zombie head just so splendidly weird that Norman Reedus couldn’t resist it?

The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus has not really explained why he likes the Johnny Depp head so much. Maybe Norman’s not really sure just what about the head he likes, but he’s apparently enjoying his scavenged booty, just like Jack Sparrow would.
