Lark Voorhies Not Mentally Ill, Lark Voorhies Says

Lark Voorhies, known forever as Lisa Turtle from the 1980s Saturday-morning sitcom Saved By The Bell , was the subject of some reports of severe mental illness last month.

Lark Voorhies, as we reported earlier , is said to have conducted an interview with People magazine last month that took a turn for the unsettling.

Amid allegations from the former child star’s mom that Voorhies is afflicted with bipolar disorder, the now 38-year-old actress behaved in a way the mag said was unhinged — marked by “near-constant dialogue – by turns mournful, frenetic, and angry – with unseen figures.”

Lark Voorhies has not been seen in much on TV in recent years but has cropped up in the news due to an appearance many say is clearly the result of plastic surgery . And the profile in People noted as well that the star appeared different, with eyes that were “disturbingly vacant,” among other things.

But Voorhies has denied the claims of People and her mother on the subject of bipolar disorder, albeit in a way that seems to make their claim sound more credible. OMG quotes Lark in an interview with ET last night, and the former child star seemed to be rambling:

“I have no worries myself, nor do I exude, exhibit or possess within my living stratus any reason why someone should worry [on] my behalf … It’s completely fictional.”

The comments echo a similar denial Voorhies gave to TMZ last month during which she said:

“Outside contract, everything else is funny … Well, you know, people want to express themselves and … you know, they will do so at free random … [ People magazine] and I are not in agreement, however. It’s so far left from what was actually [inaudible] or brought about.”

Although Lark Voorhies denies the claim, People mag has been firm in standing by their story.
