‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Victor Vows To Put Family Above Business — Is A Kinder, Gentler, Nicer Victor Newman Coming In 2017?

Big changes are ahead for Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, according to Soap Opera Spy.

Victor (Eric Braeden) wants to turn a new leaf for 2017 and starts by offering Nick a job at Newman Enterprises. To sweeten the deal, he tells his son that if he returns to the company, he would have a clear path to running the family business in the coming years. Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that it has been a dream of both Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nick’s to sit on the Newman throne. It has to be at least considered that Victor is famous for dangling a promise to his children, then taking it away when they do something he doesn’t approve of. Will Nick take Victor up on his offer?

Young and the Restless viewers aren’t so sure that Victor is ready to give up control of his company, just yet. He has made promises to both Adam (previously Justin Hartley), Victoria, and Nick that they would eventually be the president of Newman Enterprise. Shortly after, he finds a way to either discredit the way they did their work or find fault with their personal life and recants the offer of the Newman throne. So, why is Victor so willing for fork over his company to Nick this time?

“It’s been a challenging year for Victor — full of difficult challenges both to his business and beloved family,” explained executive producer Mal Young.

“We’ve seen him behind bars. We’ve seen his children turn against him which lead to Adam’s death. No parent should ever have to face their offspring’s death, so it all starts to hit him hard — much harder than he ever imagined.”

Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Victor struggles with his next move now that his children have all moved on and have their own lives. He fears that his relationship with them will be permanently damaged if he doesn’t do something drastic. He admits that in the past, he has punished his kids when they dare to stand up to him and wants to change that moving into 2017. Victor decided to reach out to Nick to put an end to the fighting and power struggles with his children and hopes that, eventually, they can be a close family again.

Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor return from a relaxing trip, Nick calls them to babysit Christian so he can take care of something at the Underground bar. Victor suggests to Nick that he should ask Noah (Robert Adamson) to run the bar, and he could return to Newman Enterprises. Victor reminded Nick that Newman has a state-of-the-art on-site daycare center, so Christian would always be close to him. To sweeten the deal, Victor said that in time, he would hand the baton to him and he would sit on the Newman throne. Soap Opera Digest wrote in theirDecember 19 edition that Nick won’t entertain the offer. He tells his dad he isn’t interested, crushing Victor.

“Victor is upset, but not too surprised, as he realizes that each one of his children has been pulling away from the family business to concentrate on their own ventures,” Young and the Restless showrunner Mal Young said.

“If he built the powerhouse that is Newman Enterprises for anything, it was for his family. His ambition was always that he would always work alongside his children and hand the reins over to them, eventually. He’s now seeing that it may not work out the way he wanted, so he has much to question about his family relationships and future business plans.”

Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that Victor is prepared to put his family first. Victor is looking to the future and wants to nurture the next generation of the Newman clan. One of the best characteristics of the great Victor Newman is his ability to surprise the Young and the Restless viewers, year after year.

Young and the Restless fans, do you believe that Victor will change and really put his family first in 2017?
