Gigi Hadid Reveals Shocking Cause Of Extreme Weight Loss, Denies Deprivation Diet
Gigi Hadid has been looking noticeably thinner, and when she strutted down the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway in revealing sexy styles, Hadid didn’t have an inch to pinch. But now the supermodel is sharing the cause of her extreme weight loss and discounting any speculation that her slimmer body is due to a deprivation diet or a desire to enter the celebrity weight loss hall of fame.
Rather than an extreme diet, Gigi revealed that her recent noticeable weight loss is due to a shocking health concern of her own. And just like her mom Yolanda Hadid did with her Lyme disease, the 21-year-old model is revealing what has been a secret health struggle.

Hadid has now revealed that she has been struggling with a thyroid condition. She received the diagnosis two years ago and clarified that the meditation treating her disease has caused her noticeable weight loss, reported Us Weekly.
“My metabolism actually changed like crazy this year. I have Hashimoto’s disease.”
In addition to sharing that she has a thyroid disease, Gigi revealed that it has “been two years since taking the medication for it.” And while most models focus on slimming for the runway, the 21-year-old had very different goals for the Victoria’s Secret show.
“For the VS show I didn’t want to lose any more weight, I just want to have muscles in the right place, and if my butt can get a little perkier, then that’s good,” summed up the supermodel.
Although Hadid stunned on the runway, the media outlet told readers that “there was no denying she looked thinner than ever,” noting that when she exercised at a Reebok event on December 7, “there wasn’t an inch to pinch on her body either.”
However, Gigi also claimed that she does not deprive herself in choosing foods for her diet, sharing that she likes bacon and baked eggs.
“I’m not a salad and meat-type person; to me, that’s boring.”
Hadid also is a fan of homemade tomato soup, made indulgent with “grilled cheese dippers on the side,” and she likes to cook her own meals.
“If I can cook it with ingredients that I know are good, then I’ll eat anything. Carbs, or whatever!” she added.
The 21-year-old and her mom Yolanda aren’t the only ones in the family who have health conditions. While Gigi has thyroid disease and her mother has been vocal about her Lyme disease, Yolanda’s daughter Bella and son Anwar also have Lyme disease.

Gigi looked so slender at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and her weight loss was so obvious that some people “thin-shamed” her, noted StyleCaster.
But in addition to claiming that she’s not on a deprivation diet and that her weight loss is due to her condition, Hadid also revealed that she has been exercising to try to get a perkier butt. That means squats.
“[Squats are] painful, and you have to do so many for them to work,” admitted Gigi.
“For the VS show, I put a sticky note in my kitchen, and every time I walked past the squats sticky note, I had to do 15 squats.”
The model also likes to box and appreciates that it gives a built-in support system.
“I knew I needed to find something that gave me a coach, gave me a family— so that when I walk in, it’s like my big brothers,” shared Hadid. “They’re like, ‘What up!’ They don’t care about who I am….They care that I give a good punch, and that’s how I want to be judged.”

As for Gigi’s philosophy about food and fitness, she believes in balance, reported PopSugar.
“I’ll start by saying I was always taught to pay a lot of attention to my body and the foods that make me feel good,” the model shared.
“It’s really important to get tested for your allergies and know what’s inflammatory for your body.”
She believes in changing up both her diet and workout frequently, explaining that “your body gets a lot of muscle memory, and once you’ve done something for so long it just stops working.” To keep her diet varied and balance, Hadid keeps “a lot of organic, fresh ingredients, like tomatoes, garlic, onions, milk, eggs” in her refrigerator.
“Things that you know are good ingredients, that you can kind of mix up and make whatever you want,” she added, noting that she also keeps “a lot of meat” available. However, the supermodel emphasizes that she’s also human and doesn’t try to be perfect.
“On set, I’m eating the sh*t set food and I’m down with a cheese and egg burrito with hot sauce,” Gigi admitted. “I’m into it.”
