Selena Gomez Reportedly Reacts To Niall Horan’s Reconciliation Efforts After Career Break
Could Selena Gomez and Niall Horan be ready to rekindle their rumored romance?
During an interview with Ryan Seacrest on November 30, the One Direction singer was asked about his thoughts on reconciling with Selena Gomez and encouraged Seacrest to “sort it out.” Now, Selena Gomez’s alleged thoughts on the matter have reportedly been revealed.
“[Selena Gomez] is flattered by what Niall had to say to Ryan, but part of her recovery involves no serious relationships,” a source revealed to Hollywood Life on December 1.
Selena Gomez announced she would be taking some time off to recover from symptoms of Lupus, including anxiety, panic attacks and depression, on August 30.
“In fact, for the time being she’s been advised not to date. Plus, dating is pretty much the last thing on her mind now. She is focused on herself and spending time with close friends,” the source explained.
Selena Gomez released a statement to People Magazine on August 30 and the magazine claimed she would be taking a year-long break from her career due to her mental health concerns.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” she wrote in her statement. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”
Selena Gomez made her first post-break appearance at last month’s 2016 American Music Awards, which Niall Horan was also attending. During the show, Selena Gomez took to the stage and delivered an emotional speech about her decision to take a break and spoke of being “broken.” A short time later, Niall Horan was seen walking over to Selena Gomez and giving her a hug.
Selena Gomez also received the support of Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga during the event and after the show, Gaga posted a photo of herself and Gomez on Instagram.
“So dope I got to hang with with the biggest rockstar of the night. (Ya,know besides Sting and Green Day)…the girl with the biggest prize of all a BIG Heart that she shares with the world,” Lady Gaga wrote with the photo, which garnered one million likes and nearly 20,000 comments.
While Selena Gomez and Niall Horan may not be headed for a reunion as he’d like, that isn’t to say that they aren’t friends. In fact, judging by his post-AMA tweet, he is a big fan of the singer and proud of her ongoing recovery.
“Just watching the show back from last night. Really great show. Loved it. Love to [Selena Gomez] for the speech, brave young woman,” Horan tweeted.
As for Selena Gomez, she’s stayed completely silent on Twitter but did recently return to Instagram where she shared a photo of herself and several fans. On Thanksgiving, Selena Gomez posted the sweet photo and revealed she had a lot to be thankful for. Although she also admitted that while 2016 has been her hardest year yet, it was also the “most rewarding.”
Also in her post, Selena Gomez admitted to feeling that she wasn’t enough at times and said she’s finally gotten over the theory.
