Naomi Watts Opens Up On ‘Scary’ Life After Liev Schreiber Breakup

Naomi Watts might be saying that moving on after her split from Liev Schreiber is “going well,” but she admits that it’s still “scary,” according to ET Online. The 48-year-old King Kong actress has just broken her silence since her headline-making split from Schreiber, who she had been with for more than 11 years.

Angelia Jolie’s split from Brad Pitt wasn’t the only headline-making breakup in September. Naomi Watts and Schreiber announced their split the same month, but unlike the Jolie-Pitt breakup, the two have remained famously friendly.

While Jolie and Pitt are going through a rather painful divorce, Naomi Watts and Schreiber made sure that their split wouldn’t impact their kids negatively. The Mulholland Drive actress and Schreiber share two sons, Alexander and Sammy.

In her first interview following the split, Naomi Watts opened up to Australia’s Daily Telegraph about her life after the breakup. Although the mother-of-two says she feels she’s “in a good place” in her life, she admits that transitions are always scary.

But nonetheless, Naomi Watts and the Ray Donovan actor are making sure their kids are healthy and won’t be suffering from their parents’ split.

“I feel, whether you’re famous or not, transitions are scary for anybody.”

Naomi Watts also added that any transition or change is always scary because there’s no telling how things are going to go and what might happen next. The actress spent Thanksgiving with her adorable sons at the family’s house in New York, where she’s currently filming her new Netflix TV show, Gypsy.

Schreiber is also in New York for his work on the Broadway’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses, which allows Naomi Watts and the actor to be closer to their kids. Although Watts spent a joyful Thanksgiving with the kids, the actress admits that she still hasn’t figured out her Christmas plans.

“I obviously want to get back to Australia, but I’m currently working on a TV show, Gypsy, and I’ve only got a limited amount of time off.”

It may sound surprising to some, but even though the two broke up, Naomi Watts still goes to Schreiber’s Broadway plays to support him. Speaking to ET Online, the King Kong actress explained that Schreiber is the father of her kids, so it’s “important” to support him.

Schreiber and Naomi Watts even took to Instagram to wish each other a happy birthday just days after their split in late September and early October, respectively. The two were together for 11 years, but they never got married.

Naomi Watts and Schreiber started dating in 2005, and two years later, the Ray Donovan actor pranked the media by joking that he and the actress got married. And although the two have never walked down the aisle, they still created their own family consisting of two adorable sons.

Schreiber has remained silent on his breakup from Naomi Watts ever since the two issued a joint statement in September. While it’s unclear whether the 49-year-old actor moved on or not, one thing is sure: Watts keeps herself busy with her work on Gypsy.

Naomi Watts, who also serves as executive producer of the new Netflix series, was recently spotted taking a stroll around the set in New York and even brushing her teeth on the sidewalk, according to the Daily Mail.

In photographs, Naomi Watts is seen being accompanied by her bodyguard. The actress kept her look casual and wore a pair of dark printed trousers and a navy coat. In other photos, Watts is seen looking casual in a gray sweater and denim jeans. At one point, Watts stopped on the sidewalk to clean her teeth while holding her phone and toothbrush in one hand.
