‘Teen Wolf’ Actor Dylan O’Brien Seen Filming In Rome
Dylan O’Brien, who suffered substantial injuries while filming Maze Runner: The Death Cure, is back on a film set, although not to shoot the much-anticipated third installment of The Maze Runner series. Dylan O’Brien was recently seen on the set of American Assassin.
In March, the Teen Wolf actor was rushed to the hospital after he suffered serious injuries while filming a motorcycle stunt scene on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure. Since then, there has been much speculation about the severity of his injuries as well as about whether he will return to work in 2016. The actor’s fans can now breathe a sigh of relief. Entertainment Tonight has reported that Dylan O’Brien has finally returned to work.
He was seen filming scenes for his new action movie American Assassin on Wednesday in Rome, Italy. O’Brien was in his character’s costume, and he looked cheerful. He was also sporting a few cuts on his face. The Teen Wolf actor is playing a young CIA black ops recruit, Mitch Rapp, in the film, which is a feature adaptation of Vince Flynn’s novel series.
O’Brien stepped out in August for the first time since his on the set injury, and according to reports, he started filming American Assassin in September. The first look of the actor as Rapp was dropped on September 12.

Speaking of his role, O’Brien told USA Today that his character is going through an internal struggle, debating how to correctly process the pain that he holds inside rather than just become a ruthless assassin. Dylan OBrien’s Rapp becomes a government assassin after his fiancee gets killed in a terrorist attack.
“There is an internal battle, absolutely, in terms of the pains he holds inside and how to correctly process that rather than just becoming a ruthless murderer.”
The 25-year-old actor also said that the role in American Assassin is the “biggest challenge” of his life, and he was also “proud” that he was playing such a central role in the movie.
“To be honest, it’s the biggest challenge of my life coming out here and starting up on this. It took me a while to get there, but I’m doing good.”
No release date has been set for American Assassin. Director Michael Cuesta, however, has revealed the opening scene of the movie in the interview with USA Today. It opens with O’Brien’s character proposing to the love of his life, and soon after that, everything in his life changes drastically.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said that the movie explores the emotional aspect of the assassin’s first kill.
“What does it actually feel like to have your first kill? We explore that in an emotional context, not just a ‘We got the bad guy’ plot context.”
Meanwhile, Maze Runner: The Death Cure will restart production in February, according to Deadline. The production was originally slated to start again in May, but Fox decided to postpone it to give O’Brien more time to rest and recuperate. The movie’s release date has also been pushed back from February 17, 2017, to January 12, 2018. The actor is reprising his lead role as Thomas in the third installment.
O’Brien currently can be seen in the final season of MTV’s Teen Wolf, which premiered on November 15. The actor plays the role of Stiles Stilinski. The premiere episode of the sixth and final season saw Stiles getting abducted by the Ghost Riders, and he was also erased from existence. Jeff Davis, executive producer of Teen Wolf, has hinted that Dylan O’Brien may not feature prominently in the final season because of his burgeoning movie career.
