90210 star Jennie Garth and ex Peter Facinelli (also known as Carlisle Cullen in Twilight ) split back in March, but the pair both seem to be adjusting to co-parenting their children as well as the new lifestyle that follows a divorce when you have kids.
Jennie Garth recently spoke out about how she is coping with the changes, indicating that turning to “me time” and a fitness routine has helped keep her on-track and balanced in the months following the news of the split. Chatting at a Hollywood event yesterday, Jennie says that losing 30 pounds and focusing on her health (with the help of a color-coded calendar) has been key — Garth says:
“Maintaining is just about consistency now … Being so happy and feeling so good about the way I feel and the way I look, I don’t want to lose that, so it’s about penciling me in every day to my life.”
Jennie also advises other women to try to carve out the same sort of self-improvement time where they can, adding:
“You just do it. It’s part of your day … I really encourage women to do that and to look at their day and try to fit in an hour a day somewhere just for themselves.”
But Jennie Garth isn’t the only one making changes after the split — Peter Facinelli has also commented on what co-parenting is like with the couple’s three kids — Luca, 15, Lola, 9, and Fiona 5 — and he says :
“When you’re going through it yourself, you have to take it day by day … I take the girls RV-ing all the time. There’s a lot of s’mores-making and singing by the campfire … They bring out my sensitive side and I toughen them up a little bit.”
Do you find it nice for stars like Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli to speak openly about issues like these faced by average parents every day?
