‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: Gendry’s Return Confirmed

Warning: This article contains potential Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers.

As Inquisitr previously reported, Game of Thrones Season 7 crews have been hard at work in recent weeks preparing various coastal sites in Spain to serve as locations for the upcoming season. Now, according to fan site Watchers On The Wall, filming is finally underway in the Basque Country region — and some very interesting spoilers are popping up as a result!

Over the last few days, various GoT cast members have been spotted in Spain. Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) was seen in the airport near Bilbao, and Emilia Clarke was also rumored to be in the country. Meanwhile, Dinklage and Liam Cunnigham (Davos Seaworth) were spotted filming a scene on a beach that looked a lot like Dragonstone.

In a video of the beach scene shared by Spanish newspaper El Correio, Tyrion is seen dressed in black, and Davos is dressed as he always has been in previous Game of Thrones seasons. As the pair chat, they are standing next to a small boat, which Davos appears to be preparing to launch.

The interaction of Tyrion and Davos is sure to set off dozens of new Game of Thrones Season 7 spoiler theories, because they have never crossed paths in the previous six seasons of the show. As WOTW points out, Tyrion and Davos recently opposed each other in a war and Tyrion’s defense of King’s Landing during Stannis’ offensive caused Davos to witness the death of his son. However, an alliance between them could aid their leaders, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

But now for a huge Game of Thrones Season 7 spoiler: Los Siete Reinos reports a credible source has seen Joe Dempsie (Gendry) on set in Spain. GoT viewers know that Gendry was last seen in Season 3, when he rowed away from the shores of Dragonstone, never to be heard from again. As Inquisitr previously noted, Dempsie was photographed in the Belfast airport in early September, prompting reports Gendry was rowing his way back from oblivion. While there is no photo proof of him in Spain yet, the combination of both sightings seems to confirm that Gendry will indeed appear in Season 7.

In August, Dempsie told Digital Spy that he’d love to return for Game of Thrones Season 7.

“It’s a bit of a loose end, and they don’t make a habit of leaving them untied — and actually as the series has progressed, the more ‘forgotten’ characters that have returned, the more Gendry sticks out like a sore thumb.”

He went on to say he hoped his return would finally put an end to the popular Gendry meme.

“There’s a lot of unanswered questions about Gendry and the longer it goes on, the more obvious his absence becomes. I mean, God, the amount of flippin’ memes I get sent on Twitter…whether they’ll bow to that pressure or not, I don’t know. But fingers crossed, because it’d be lovely to go back.”

Meanwhile, back in Northern Ireland, WOTW reports the first pictures of Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) in her wig have been posted on Twitter. In previous seasons, Turner dyed her blonde hair red to play Sansa, but in Game of Thrones Season 7, she will apparently be wearing a wig. Others seen in on-set photos include, Kit Harington, Liam Cunningham, and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth).

What do you think of the latest Game of Thrones Season 7 spoilers? What do you believe Tyrion and Davos are discussing on the Dragonstone beach? Are you happy Gendry is returning? Where do you think he has been all this time?

Game of Thrones Season 7 returns to HBO in the summer of 2017.
