The First Trailer For Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ Leaks Online: Is It Everything You Wanted?

The very first official footage from the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is reportedly coming near the end of October. Well, it appears as if someone got a little too carried away and it led to a rather rough version of the first trailer being leaked online. As expected, Sony Pictures is taking it down as quickly as they can find them, but it’s being passed around and many have already watched it.

The more important thing here is wondering if it’s what everyone was hoping for.

As revealed by ARS Technica, the trailer leak for The Dark Tower came via a Japanese-language Vimeo account which has now been taken down. The trailer begins with the narration of Idris Elba aka The Gunslinger.

“What happens in one world echoes in others. These aren’t dreams,” the boy tells a psychologist. “There’s another world out there”

As pointed out by Gizmodo, the leaked trailer actually focuses a lot more on the character of Jake Chambers, who is played by Tom Taylor. The story from Stephen King’s novel has Jake’s home time frame as that of 1977, but it has been updated to the 2010s and moved to New York City for the movie.

So far, a number of fans of the books are not entirely sure what to make of the modernized changes to The Dark Tower, and they have expressed their concern via social media.

Any variations of the leaked trailer for The Dark Tower most likely won’t end up staying online too much longer. Sony Pictures is doing everything possible to take them all down, but it made its way online and the world now knows what is coming. Well, they know a little bit of what is coming as some of it was hard to see in some versions and others didn’t stay up long enough for anyone to watch it.

The beginning of the trailer does put a bit of a psychological thriller feel to it, but the action does kick in as things keep moving forward. While some fans may not be overly excited about what they have seen so far, they can’t deny that they love hearing Idris Elba receive a portion of the Gunslinger Litany.

“I do not aim with my hand, I aim with my eye. I do not kill with my gun. I kill with my heart.”

Just in case the trailer is removed, Elba says that statement near the end of it, and fans would have to be hard-pressed not to get goosebumps as it is spoken.

One person that didn’t see a lot of screen time in the leaked teaser trailer was that of Matthew McConaughey who plays the role of the “Man in Black.” Fans are truly hoping that his role is as big as should be expected, but there was not much of him in the footage seen so far.

While the unofficial trailer for The Dark Tower has leaked, ComicBook has revealed that the first official teaser trailer is going to come out no later than Christmas. That seems a bit later for a movie coming out in February, but it has to come sometime.

Idris Elba stars as the gunslinger named Roland Deschain in the movie version of The Dark Tower, and he must deal with the man in black (Matthew McConaughey) to save the world. Set for release on February 17, 2017, it is expected that much more will be officially known before too much more time has passed.

The movie adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower is something that so many people have been waiting for, but fans want it to be great. Taking such an iconic book series and turning it into a series of movies is something that isn’t overly easy, but if done right, it can be amazing. Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey are seen as great choices for the lead roles, but the leaked trailer has been met with mixed emotions that Sony has to hope will change.
