Timgoy Dak Search Update: Case Of Missing Phoenix Girl Has Parallels To Nearby Disappearance Of 10-Year-Old Jesse Wilson In July

The search for Timgoy Dak is expanding around Phoenix as police intensify the hunt for the 8-year-old girl who disappeared sometime in the early morning hours on Sunday — a case that has some striking similarities to another unsolved missing child case in the area from months earlier.

Relatives of Dak called police on Sunday evening to report that she had been missing for at least one day, KHPO/KTVK reported. Family members said they had last seen the 8-year-old at their apartment on Saturday at about 9:30 a.m. and that other residents saw her in the apartment complex at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday when she reportedly re-entered the apartment.

What happened next remains a mystery and has police in Phoenix in a now-desperate search for the girl. Timgoy Dak’s family reported that she was not seen on Sunday, and they do not know where the girl could have gone. Police are now stopping cars that enter and leave the apartment complex to check vehicles and show them photos of the missing girl.

The search for Timgoy Dak is complicated by the fact that the girl has been known to go off on her own, sometimes for extended periods.

“We’re being told it’s not uncommon for her to be pretty independent around the area, around the complex,” Sgt. Jonathan Howard of the Phoenix Police Department told KHPO/KTVK. “But it’s very uncommon for her to have not returned after this period of time.”

The case of missing Phoenix girl Timgoy Dak had striking similarities to another disappearance in the Phoenix area earlier this summer. Jesse Wilson, a 10-year-old who lived with his family in a Phoenix suburb, went missing after slipping out of his bedroom window late one night in July. Wilson’s mother reported him missing the following day, CBS News reported.

This led to a widespread search for Wilson, and at the time, police questioned Jesse’s mother, 12 News reported. Police said that they could not rule out foul play in the boy’s disappearance but did not officially name a suspect.

In the days after Wilson disappeared, dozens of people showed up to search the desert areas around the family’s neighborhood. Many said they were parents themselves, prompted to help the desperate Wilson family by thinking of their own children.

“We’re working on looking for any clues that would help us find Jesse Wilson,” volunteer Marylu Lopez told NBC affiliate KPNX. “I’m a mom of five and I think that one more pair of eyes will always make a difference.”

In the weeks that followed, police got no closer in the search for Jesse Wilson and they now believe that he is dead. As 12 News reported, Jesse Wilson had a history of escaping and leaving his home by himself.

“In April, 2016, Jesse escaped again, apparently opening a window and climbing down from the garage. A neighbor found him in the street and took him in until police could find his mother and bring him home.

“According to police reports, Jesse was apparently already dressed for school at 4:30 a.m. when he left through the window.

“Buckeye police have said they no longer believe Jesse is alive and the search effort has now become a recovery effort.”

Police have not said if the disappearance of Timgoy Dak is at all related to the disappearance of Jesse Wilson or whether they suspect either child had been abducted. The area where Wilson disappeared in Buckeye, Arizona, is roughly 40 miles from Dak’s neighborhood in Phoenix.

And at the same time that police in Phoenix are searching for Timgoy Dak, authorities in nearby Mesa are looking for another missing girl, Jade Coyle. The cases are not entirely similar, as police in Mesa said they consider the 9-year-old Coyle to be an endangered runaway.

Anyone with information one the whereabouts of Timgoy Dak is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151.
