Miley Cyrus Stands By Red Carpet Ban At ‘Crisis Six Scenes’ NYC Premiere

Miley Cyrus may be taking over the small screen with her recent stints on the Amazon series, Crisis Six Scenes, and NBC’s The Voice, but don’t look for the singer to appear on the red carpet at either of these show’s premieres.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer is sticking to her red carpet ban, which she has pledged to not participate in since last December. Cyrus, 23, made her last red carpet appearance for the A Very Murray Christmas premiere back in December, 2015, reports MTV. In Cyrus’s cover story with Elle, she said that she will no longer attend red carpet premieres. She is simply tired of smiling for the cameras.

“I don’t feel like blowing you a kiss,” Cyrus further explained her recent statements on Friday, Sept. 16, on the Today show. “It’s like, what’s going on? Why? Who are you?”

Cyrus also doesn’t feel like being a target for fashion publications and shows like E!’s Fashion Police.

“You’re just putting yourself out there for people to talk about. I don’t want people to really talk about what I’m wearing. That’s usually why I don’t wear too much. But now they make me wear clothes on The Voice,” she joked.

In Elle’s 2016 October issue, the former Disney star said that there are better things she could be doing with her time than posing on the red carpet.

“Why, when people are starving, am I on a red carpet that’s read? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit – it’s like ‘Zoolander.'”

Cyrus first expressed her distaste with red carpet events on Instagram last year. When she posted a photo of herself at A Very Murray Christmas premiere, she revealed to her fans that it would be her last red carpet premiere, sending fans into a meltdown. Does that mean Cyrus is giving up fame forever? What about singing and acting? Not necessarily. Just because Cyrus doesn’t like red carpet events doesn’t mean she will stop doing what she loves.

On Thursday night, Dec. 2, Cyrus shared her festive outfit with the very un-festive caption: “#averymurraychristmas @netflix? #f***yeahbillmurray #mylastredcarpet 4eva,” reported MTV. The photo showed Cyrus wearing an embellished white dress with knee-high stockings and silver platform shoes. She also had yarn wove into her hair like Princess Leia.

Cyrus is still sticking to her red carpet ban, reports the Daily Mail. She avoided the red carpet altogether and hung out indoors at the NYC premiere of Crisis in Six Scenes on Thursday, Sept. 15. Cyrus headed straight into the Crosby Street Hotel with show producer Woody Allen and her co-stars. Of course, the photographers found Cyrus, who appeared willing to pose for photos.

At the premiere, she donned a colorful long-sleeved jumpsuit that featured retro photos from the 1960s emblazoned all over. Cyrus paired her look with a rope belt, orange socks, and platform shoes. She wore her blonde hair tied up into a top knot while sticking to a minimal makeup look. Cyrus opted to wear only brown eye shadow, defined eyebrows, and pink lip color, notes the British tabloid.

In the six-episode series, Cyrus will play a hippie that will have an effect on Woody and his on-screen wife. And her character is a lot like Cyrus, in which she dresses like a hippie and will smoke a lot of marijuana on the show. She even kind of looks like Hannah Montana with her long blonde wig, as noted MTV.

Cyrus also avoided the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. She was the host last year and willingly posed half-naked on the red carpet, but opted of the ceremony to smoke some more weed and hang out with her dogs, according to Metro.
