Paul McCartney And Ringo Starr Set Back The Clocks And Reunite On Red Carpet For Beatles Documentary

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have had quite the adventure together. In their heydays they formed half of the four-person band that called itself The Beatles and that four-person band just happened to change the landscape of rock music forever.

While Paul was the enigmatic songwriter with the voice that belted immortal hits like Let It Be, Starr was the drummer who functioned as the quiet link between the giants George Harrison, John Lennon, and McCartney.

So when the two surviving members of the greatest rock act of the last century reunited on the red carpet after the band broke up in 1970, the clocks seemed to have truly gone back to the golden era during which The Beatles toured the world and took it by storm.

And it is that era that director Ron Howard documents in the film The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years, the premiere of which saw Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr unite again in London’s Leicester Square.

As evidenced by Starr’s tweet above, the night was indeed great. According to the Mail Online report, the blue-carpet premiere was attended by not just Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, but also Olivia Harrison, the widow of George Harrison and the inimitable Yoko Ono, widow of John Lennon, in her signature black shades and eclectic style.

Also present were Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr’s wives, Nancy Shevell and Barbara Bach, respectively.

McCartney’s fashion designer daughter, Stella, was also there along with her husband Alasdhair Wallis, completing a historical evening.

Fans of The Beatles are still as loud and teary at their mention as ever, and the film reminds them once and for all of the enduring power of the traveling, touring phenomenon that was The Beatles, until they stopped touring in the year 1966.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were vehicles of a legacy that inspired many musicians during and after them and that was evident in the star-studded guest list of the premiere.

The Reuters report of the evening noted the presence of Madonna, guitar legend Eric Clapton, Oasis front man and avowed Beatles fan Liam Gallagher, and Irish singing legend Bob Geldof.

The film not only charts the most exciting period of the Beatles’ career, their frantic and busy tour years that fueled the Beatlemania, but also unearths never before seen nuggets of relics of the glorious musical sixties.

The report quotes director Howard as he established his association with the project.

“It first began as just a fun, cool, creative adventure, then I became very intimidated by it when I realized how important it was to fans. Now it’s just proved to be a very gratifying experience, and I’m already nostalgic for it… After two years of working with it, I’m a little sad to let it go.”

Not only did the former bandmates launch themselves wholeheartedly into the promotion of the film, they even sat for interviews with Howard and featured in a live Facebook session, that McCartney enthusiastically tweeted about, as shown above.

In their question and answer session, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr fondly referred to the crushing crowds that defined their tours.

The magazine Ultimate Classic Rock quoted the man himself, Paul, as he laughingly remembered the mad frenzy surrounding their shows in the sixties.

“In the cinema, we’re actually going to hear ourselves for the first time. We couldn’t hear ourselves when we were live, as there was so much screaming going on.”

With the film hitting the theaters to rapturous audiences reliving their love for their favorite musical act, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as representatives of the Fab Four from Liverpool have once again made headlines.
