When Will ‘The 100’ Season 3 Come To Netflix?

Netflix Canada already has The 100 Season 3, but what about for the United States? The show is still in its second season, with The 100 Season 4 not premiering until sometime in January 2017. When will the third season make its way to streaming? Why does Canada get it earlier?

First of all, Netflix Canada has a special deal with the CW. The 100 is streamed around 24 hours after an episode airs live in the United States. This is because it doesn’t air on Canadian TV, so the CW wanted to make sure fans got to see the episodes. It was a special trial during Season 1 and has proven to be effective, so the licensing deal still stands.

Think of Netflix Canada getting something similar to Hulu in the United States. The difference is that Netflix gets to keep the whole of The 100 Season 3 available for streaming, as it would eventually end up there anyway. It is likely that Season 4 will continue with the same pattern and will arrive on Netflix around 24 hours after airing on the CW.

For the United States, there is still a longer wait to watch the 16 episodes. What’s On Netflix predicts that The 100 Season 3 will be available sometime in October 2016. This is based on previous years, where the program came to Netflix around October.

The 100 started as a mid-season show and but made it to the fall scheduling for Season 2. In Season 3, it was pushed back to a January start, which has now been confirmed as the start of Season 4. It isn’t that the CW worries the show will fail in the fall scheduling, but the CW hopes the show will strengthen the mid-season scheduling. It’s the same reason for The Originals getting a January start for Season 4. iZombie and Reign have also been pushed to January starts.

FanSided’s Netflix Life admits that The 100 Season 3 is a tricky one to predict. In most cases, the CW shows are added to Netflix either at the same time or just before the next season premieres. The difference is that the other shows have fall dates for their premieres.

When it came to The 100 Season 2, fans thought they would have to wait until January of 2016 for the Netflix release. Instead, the show came during October of 2015, so fans could catch up before the third season aired. It is possible that Netflix will do this again, especially with the latest licensing deal.

The last five episodes of The 100 will be removed from Hulu on September 18. CWTV.com will still have episodes available for streaming until the shows are added to Netflix. Hulu is removing the shows because the CW and Netflix came to an exclusive agreement. Netflix will air the whole season of a show eight days after its season finale.

Figuring out when The 100 Season 4 will come to Netflix is easy. Fans will just have to wait eight days after the Season 4 finale, which may be around March or April 2017 judging by Season 3.

There have been suggestions that CW will allow Netflix to stream all CW shows from September 18. However, there wasn’t anything in Netflix’s email newsletter about any CW shows for the September 2016 releases. That doesn’t mean surprises can’t happen, but it is unlikely that the streaming service will have missed all of them.

For now, fans will need to wait for The 100 Season 3 on Netflix. It will likely be available early October of 2016.
