GOT7: Popular JYP Entertainment Boy Group Plays Name Tag Ripping Guards In Latest Episode Of ‘Running Man’

For almost six years, Running Man has been a major part of many Koreans’ viewership on Sundays. Providing a steady stream of viewership for the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) throughout that time, the popular variety show is officially the longest-running show of said category for SBS surpassing the previous titleholder, X-Man. It is even recognized as the most popular Korean variety show internationally despite the fact other variety shows, such as Infinite Challenge and 2 Days & 1 Night, not just have longer runs but are still on the air.

Despite the fact that many people watch Running Man because of the crazy antics and hi-jinks of its cast has made them superstars, especially Lee Kwang Soo and Song Ji Hyo, many K-pop fans tune in to watch their favorite K-pop groups participate in the games too. For example, many Once tuned in when Twice made their first appearance on the show during said episode’s name tag ripping game. Many A.R.M.Y. tuned in when BTS appeared as special guests during the show’s 300th Special Episode. Finally, Hani of EXID had so much fun during her special guest appearance on Running Man that she wants to return with Solji, LE, Hyelin, and Junghwa (the rest of EXID).

Now many K-pop fans who are part of IGOT7 will be treated on the most recent episode of Running Man. Popular JYP Entertainment K-pop boy group Got7 will be making an appearance as name tag ripping guards for the variety show.

In the latest episode of Running Man, all seven members of Got7 — Mark, JB, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom — are dressed up as security guards, as reported by Soompi. Their costumes fit in with the theme of the episode in which the Running Man cast members were dressed up in prison uniforms to be transported to “prison.” Along the way, they stop at a station to do “hard labor” and waiting for them is Got7.

The task at hand for the Running Man cast is to stamp ten thousand envelopes in 20 minutes. The said task does seem insane causing the cast to bicker and whine, but Jackson puts them in check yelling at them to make the stamps look pretty. The other members join in showing just as much gusto as Jackson. JB yells at them to put stamps on envelopes honestly followed by Yugyeom yelling at them to not use tricks after the Running Man cast find ways to speed up their task.

Jackson was the standout of all the members in his role as he screamed at the Running Man cast in imperfect Korean to “Sit down!” and “Stop talking!” Yet, Jinyoung, along with Lee Kwang Soo, had the best dialogue together when the former followed up the latter’s statement of Got7 looking so good because they are younger than the Running Man cast. Upon hearing that, Kwang Soo yells back to Jinyoung to be quiet, exclaiming he is the maknae of Running Man, a statement that made everyone laugh.

So it is known, Got7 has been on Running Man before, specifically the 100 vs. 100 special episode in which 200 people were on set. The Running Man cast had to call all their friends to come over to make up a team of 100 people to take on another team of 100 people consisting of professional wrestlers, Judo fighters, action stars, taekwondo masters, and ssiireum wrestlers (Korean-style wrestling). The catch is the members of the Running Man team can be searched on Wikipedia. Got7 made up seven of the 100 member Running Man team.

Besides the actual competition, the guests had a lot of fun which includes an impromptu dance competition in which Jackson and Mark showed off their B-Boy moves against Lee Sangmin and Lee Sangho. Not to mention, they all received a special treat when GFriend showed up to sing both “Glass Bead” and “Me Gusta Tu” for them.

Running Man airs on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. KST as part of the SBS “Good Sunday” program. For those who do not have access to the channel, it is available to watch for free, with ads, on both DramaFever and Viki pending region.
