‘Better Call Saul’ Season 3: Things To Expect With Gus Fring, A Potential ‘Breaking Bad’ Crossover

Better Call Saul has matched the critical acclaim of Breaking Bad and is one of the highest rated shows on AMC.

The series has been greenlit for a Season 3, and it follows the life of Jimmy McGill before he became Saul.

The series has done plenty of character crossover from Breaking Bad, but fans still hope that Walter White, also known as Heisenberg, or Jesse Pinkman will someone make a cross-over appearance. No word on this happening yet, but keep your fingers crossed.

According to Cinema Blend, Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk has some awesome ideas about how Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad can crossover.

“I have crazy ideas. I’d love to see some of Saul during the years of Breaking Bad, but off-screen, out of his office, not in his Saul mode. I’m curious what that person is.”

In the series so far we have seen hints of Jimmy McGill’s questionable morals, talking his ways out of dire situations and his ability to portray other characters.

We see him put these skills to the test as a sleazy lawyer for a meth drug lord in Breaking Bad. The show brilliantly unravels his ascension into Saul.

Better Call Saul hints at exploring McGill’s life after Saul where he is working in an Omaha Cinnabon, far removed from his activities with the drug lord and gangster Heisenberg. He then watches a tape of when he was a hot-shot lawyer in Albuquerque.

This suggests that the series may explore McGill’s post-Saul life with flash forwards or give us more insight into what Saul was going when he wasn’t with Walter White or Jesse.

Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim, told Deadline that a Breaking Bad crossover is a possibility in the show.

“There’s a lot of leeway with where they could go. I can only presume that it’s also on the table for them to do scenes that happen during Breaking Bad years in some fashion.”

How Kim and Jimmy end up is one of the mysteries of the show as she was not featured in Breaking Bad. It will be interesting to find out how much of an influential role Kim played in McGill becoming Saul Goodman in the future.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Bob Odenkirk revealed which scene he found the most challenging.

“The scene where Chuck has sorted out what Jimmy did to undermine him in that court case, and of course Chuck has got it right to the letter, and he was spinning it out there to Kim, telling him what I did, and I’m standing there. That’s a tricky scene because my character — his mind is exploding as he hears his brother lay out this very specific plan that actually happened, that he’s guilty of. A million thoughts are racing through his mind, but he can’t give any of it away, and the least little thing will give it away because Kim, as we’ve established her — and as Rhea Seehorn has played her so wonderfully — is such a smart and perceptive character.”

The showrunners are returning in Season 3, and the Emmy award-winning show is expected to go on for a few more seasons.

Fans of the show quickly found out that the note on Mike’s car was proof that Giancarlo Esposito, who plays Gus Fring, is returning in Season 3.

The showrunners admitted that they didn’t expect fans to discover the hint that the drug kingpin is back by looking at the first word of each episode title, which says Frings Back.

The Twitter page of Better Call Saul suggests that it could mean something else.

We will have to tune in to find out.
