‘Supernatural’ Season 12 Promo: Searching For Sam, Dean Handcuffed, Mary Winchester’s Mission, And Lucifer Teased [Spoilers]

Supernatural Season 12 will premiere on The CW network in just a few weeks. As the first episode gets closer to airing, more tidbits are being revealed. Fans were happy to find out that the first promo has finally been released.

Spoilers for Supernatural are ahead. If you don’t want to know what will happen in Season 12, then stop reading.

Last season, Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) managed to save the day by talking to Amara (Emily Swallow) about family and relationships. He didn’t go to the Darkness with that intent, but his quick thinking took care of the situation in the most perfect way. As a result, Dean was given a gift. His mother, who has been dead since Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) was a baby, was brought back to life.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, sneak peek photos of the season premiere show Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith), Dean, and Castiel (Misha Collins) recovering from a battle. It seems that being dead didn’t dull Mary’s hunter skills. More recently, the first promo for Supernatural Season 12 was uploaded to YouTube. It is only 20 seconds long but still manages to show quite a bit.

Dean is concerned about his brother and demands to know where Sam is. Fans know that he was kidnapped by the British Men of Letters. The Supernatural promo clip shows Sam gagged and unable to get free. Spoilers teased that Sam will be threatened with a blowtorch, but will he be able to get free or will he be saved? In the promo clip, he looks like he is starting to wear down. In the background, Mary tells Dean that the only thing that is important is getting Sam back.

Besides Mary fighting off enemies and wanting her son back, what else is known about the character? According to Variety, Jensen Ackles spoke about Sam and Dean’s mother returning at Comic-Con.

“It presents a dynamic we haven’t had. When mom [died], Sam was a baby and Dean was a child… The children that she knew are now men, the relationship is kind of nonexistent, so it’s going to be an interesting situation of them trying to bridge the gap that occurred over the last thirty-some years.”

Questions regarding Mary Winchester in Season 12 include how she will put herself back in Sam and Dean’s lives. According to the sneak peek photos and promo, it seems that she is going to jump right back into hunting. Don’t expect the version of Mary that fans saw in dreams during past seasons of Supernatural. The real Mary is a bit different and it seems some secrets were kept hidden from the Winchester brothers. With Mary being added into the mix, Ackles teased that it might cause some issues.

“How is she going to plug herself into their lives? Is that going to leave the brothers vulnerable? For the longest time, the way to get to one of them was if you trap or make one suffer, the other comes running. Now there’s a third element in the mix that could make the guys more vulnerable.”

The promo also teases Lucifer’s (Rick Springfield) new vessel and Dean is handcuffed. Well, this certainly doesn’t look good. However, the Winchester brothers are known for being able to get out of anything. Now that Mary is back, there is one more person added to their team.
