NCAA Football: 5 Potential Upsets To Watch In Week 2

The first week of the NCAA football season has come and gone, and there were quite a few upsets. It was an exciting week of football, to say the least, but there is an entertaining schedule waiting for fans in Week 2 action as well.

Looking ahead at the upcoming schedule, there aren’t any high-profile games with ranked teams going up against each other. There was a full schedule of ranked games last week, but that just opens up the opportunity for even bigger upsets. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening this week.

It will be an entertaining week to say the very least. There are going to be a lot of ranked teams who blow their competition away with ease. That being said, there are others who are expected to blow their opponents out that come out with a rough week and are in danger of taking an embarrassing loss.

Each and every season, there are a couple teams that falter right off the bat. This season won’t be any different.

Which five games should fans watch in particular if they want to see a big time upset in Week 2 of the college football season?

Syracuse Orange vs. No. 13 Louisville Cardinals

First up on the list is the No. 13 ranked Louisville Cardinals, who are traveling to Syracuse to take on the Orange. It won’t be an easy game on the road, although they are highly expected to come out with a win. Syracuse will do everything in their power to come through with a big upset on Friday evening.

No. 5 Michigan Wolverines vs. UCF Knights

Some may not agree with this game being on the list, but Jim Harbaugh still has to prove that his team is a true contender in the Big Ten. UCF isn’t a formidable opponent by any stretch, but they have the ability to make big plays from time to time. Ann Arbor is a very friendly place for the Wolverines, and the Knights will have an uphill battle on their hands to upset Michigan.

No. 23 Baylor Bears vs. SMU Mustangs

Next up is a battle down in Texas between the Baylor Bears and SMU Mustangs. SMU isn’t a championship contender, but they aren’t a pushover either. Baylor should come away with a convincing victory, but stranger things have happened over the last few years in college football action.

No. 18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Nevada Wolf Pack

That’s right, after last weeks’ 50-47 loss at the hands of the Texas Longhorns, Notre Dame is on upset watch. Nevada is nothing like the Longhorns from a talent perspective, but they are a team to keep an eye on. Notre Dame cannot allow themselves to feel a hangover from their Week 1 loss, or else they could be looking at a 0-2 record right off the bat.

No. 15 TCU Horned Frogs vs. Arkansas Razorbacks

Could the Arkansas Razorbacks walk onto TCU’s home field and come out with a huge victory? There is no question that they have the talent to do so. Arkansas and TCU is the main game to watch if you’re looking to see an upset this weekend, and it wouldn’t be shocking if the Horned Frogs pick up their first loss of the season.

Expect to see a couple of these five games mentioned end up being good games. A few of them will end up being blowouts with the ranked team coming out on top.

Which teams do you think are on upset alert heading into Week 2 of the college football season? Do you think that these five games are ones that fans should keep an eye on? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
