Taylor Swift ‘Put The Brakes’ On Relationship With Tom Hiddleston, Bringing Relationship To An ‘Embarrassing’ End

Taylor Swift — in the words of her hit 2012 song — might as well have told Tom Hiddleston that “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” according to multiple reports Tuesday.

After a brief three-month romance, Taylor Swift was reportedly the party responsible for ending Hiddleswift, according to Us Weekly. Swift wanted to end the relationship she and Hiddleston started in June because of how fast the two were moving, according to an unnamed source.

“She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship. Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”

Us Weekly reported that the relationship’s abrupt ending was a cause for humiliation for Hiddleston. According to the unnamed source, Hiddleston was “embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out” as fast as it did, especially after he and Swift began their relationship in a hot-and-heavy courtship.

Hollywood Life confirmed those reports that Swift was behind the break-up. The article reported that Hiddleston was visibly upset over the sudden ending and still has hopes the couple could work things out despite the seeming finality in the split.

“Tom enjoyed his time with Taylor and is hoping for a possible reconciliation. Tom wanted to be with Taylor because she is Taylor Swift. She is hot, famous, and sexy, so why not date her? Her fame is part of what made her so attractive to him… Tom is a little shocked it all ended so quickly now that things are over between he and Taylor. But he has no regrets.”

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston first were spotted together at the Met Gala in New York this May. Although she was still dating Calvin Harris at the time, Swift and Hiddleston were seen dancing at the party, People reported.

According to USA Today, Swift and Hiddleston first stepped into the public eye as a potential couple on June 15 when the two were spotted kissing on a Rhode Island beach. Those photos were first published by the British publication The Sun, linking Tom Hiddleston — who is better known from the Thor series as Loki — and Taylor Swift together.

They remained in the public’s eye during Taylor Swift’s annual Fourth of July bash. Tom and Taylor made their relationship “Instagram official” as the couple posed alongside other famous couples for a quick snap during the party.

Questions immediately began to spring up about the validity of the relationship. Tom Hiddleston was quick to defend his fling with the “Bad Blood” singer, confirming his feelings to The Hollywood Reporter in July during a phone interview.

“Well, um. How best to put this? The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together and we’re very happy. Thanks for asking. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.”

Rumors that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston were experiencing trouble in their relationship began shortly thereafter. Taylor and Tom tried to put an end to the rumors by coming closer together — literally. In August, Swift flew Hiddleston to her Rhode Island home for a weekend rendezvous that silenced some of the critics about the relationship, People reported.

In between their first and last known meetings in Rhode Island, Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston enjoyed a whirlwind romance around the world. Trips Swift and Hiddleston are known to have made during their brief romance include PDA-filled respites in Italy and Australia.
