Gucci Mane Talks Collaboration With Outkast — Could A New Album Be In The Works?

It looks like Outkast isn’t finished dropping bombs.

If ever there was a hip hop duo that could simultaneously turn heads and make them nod to rhythm, Outkast would be it. Composed of Andre “Andre 3000” Benjamin and Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, the dynamic duo have reigned supreme on many a track. Considered by many to be iconic to the rap game, Outkast defies the norm and sets new standards.

Gucci Mane, the 36-year-old rapper who was recently released from prison on gun charges, may have just released information regarding Outkast’s latest. The fate of Outkast has been in question for a while now. While the duo are on good terms, Big Boi and Andre chose to work on solo projects. Their last known performance together was around Coachella, though Big Boi made it known that a group album wasn’t in the works. According to a report by Complex, Gucci revealed that he had been featured on a track for multiple artists — Outkast was one of them.

It’s no surprise that the “Icy” rapper has been busy since his release from prison. Alongside the controversy of losing weight and being a changed individual on the outside, Gucci appears to be dedicating quite a bit of time to music. The Everybody Looking album dropped this year, and there’s more in store. Gucci Mane took to Snapchat to discuss the fact that he had been working on tracks, and Outkast’s name was among those he found worthy of note.

Other artists include Lil Wayne, Boosie, E-40, Quavo, Diplo, and 2 Chainz. That’s quite a bit of work, lending credibility to Gucci Mane’s Snapchat post. After all, it would certainly ruffle feathers if the “Lemonade” rapper was misquoting future involvements with such notable artists.

It would certainly come as a surprise that Big Boi and Andre 3000 are working together again. Big Boi has pursued solo projects, and has even announced that he would be working on a new EP and album. He won’t be alone, as rapper Killer Mike will be a collaborative partner.

As for Andre 3000 of Outkast, there hasn’t been much in the way of his doings. Though his presence is still strong in the hip hop circle, many wonder if he’ll be doing more than simply appearing on the albums of other artists. He was recently featured on Frank Ocean’s Blonde album, as well as Travis Scott’s Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight album. It was speculated that the “Hey Ya” rapper was targeting Drake on Ocean’s “Solo” track, though artist Cee-Lo debunked such rumors in an interview. All things considered, the buzz is high for more content from the rapper-turned-actor.

As for Gucci Mane, his latest will be an album named Woptober. According to HipHopDX, Gucci took to Instagram and revealed the news to his followers. While there aren’t any specifics as to where he’s involved with Outkast’s new album, the simple fact that he mentioned a feature with them has all but solidified the hope that fans have held onto for so long.

Avid listeners of Outkast are already taking to Twitter, voicing the anticipation for whatever Big Boi and Andre have in store. The two have only worked a few projects together, namely the Speakerboxxx/The Love Below album that dropped back in 2003. There’s also Idlewild, the soundtrack that was recorded alongside Andre 3000’s performance on the big screen back in 2006. Clearly, it’s been quite a while since we’ve had a true collaboration between the two. If Gucci Mane’s Snapchat is any indication, fans won’t be disappointed.
